Same here, I was definitely not impressed with the batting when Patterson was coming in at #3 or #4 early in the year.

Really helped that Patterson had a breakthrough year (definitely did not rate him in T20) and also Laurie Evans was much better than I had expected. With Mash and Inglis back in the Scorchers batted quite deep, even Richardson and Tye can do some damage if they are needed in the late overs and can just blast away. Bowling lineup was deep as well, I reckon it is a bit stiff that Matt Kelly didn't get more games as he performed quite well when he was in. Hatzoglou also turned out to be a very reliable recruit who I wouldn't have rated that highly before this year.

Scorchers are a pretty strong domestic team .

All of marsh , berrendorff, tye, Richardson, Patterson , turner and agar have played for Australia in one form or another and Munro has played for NZ .

Inglis is also next in line for the Australian keeping role .

Not in that order though. Changed his style to take a much smaller role, and give the assistants a much bigger role and then the results improved greatly. Could argue that's not the best reflection on his coaching.

To be honest, I think they should just get rid of him now, it's clear it's going that way, and dragging it out helps no one.

If Punter wanted a national gig, Aus would sack whoever the coach was and hire him immediately. Ponting doesn't want it.

Ponting has already come out and said he would be interested in coaching our T20 side, but not at Langers expense.

He gets well paid for his IPL gig and by the media.
Doing the job full time would probably mean a pay cut.

Hope they retain Kelly. He’s a gun IMO.
