Two catches dropped by Carey already.

It's obviously harder to get out of the side than in.
Ever since Gilly, the world has had an obsession with keepers who are batsmen first and keepers second. I maintain that they cost the side more in drops than they gain in runs, especially in longer formats. Jimmy Peirson is Australia's best keeper, and should be playing. Inglis also keeps better than Carey. None of them are close to Ian Healy, Darren Berry, or pre-finger-injury Tim Paine.

We had Peter Nevil in that role for a while, but I think he lost his spot to Wade (or Paine ?)

Peter Nevill wasn't treated well. He averaged just under 40 with the bat in first-class cricket, but in tests he often found himself at the wicket after a collapse and needing to either dig in at a strike rate of 25, or hit out before the tail self-destructed. Hardly ever got to play his natural game, and his performance suffered. Kept well throughout his tenure.

This target should be a dawdle with a lineup deep enough to have Cam Green batting at 8… even if one of the openers is about the 8th or 9th best batsman in the side.

Our batting line-up is deplorable in this format.
Still can't figure out how Stoinis gets an automatic gig

52 games
1 century
6 fifties
30 average
93 s/r

Massively over rated

For me he's quite clearly a T20 specialist, which is totally fine.

Shouldn't be in the ODI side though.

Finch is almost 36 years old. At some point people have to stop saying “he’ll come good” and accept that his reflexes have degraded a bit and he’s too vulnerable to elite fast bowlers, who he would be facing all the time as an opener.

It's the Tubby Taylor conundrum, valued too high as captain despite shit form

Literally got dropped because he wasn't chatty enough behind the stumps for Smith's liking.

Or seen more recently in Eoin Morgan, who was an excellent captain and batsman in his prime, but was given far too much rope in hopes that he’d turn back the clock.

Is he so highly valued? This is ODI cricket, which is to Test cricket what checkers is to chess. You don't need to be mensa level genius. They'll be fine without him.

Didn't realise he was 36. Why persist, this is embarrassing at this point.
