Starc's first over was a double wicket maiden so the 43 runs he conceded came off 18 balls. To bowl a double wicket maiden and still wind up with an economy rate of 10+ is fairly unusual.

Cummins was also going at 10 after his first two over spell. Ireland aren't mugs but dear God a good batting line-up would slaughter our bowlers.

Cummins should be replaced with Kane Richardson I think. They need something different in the mix - ideally someone with variations who can bowl at the death.

If Green focused on defensive bowling like DJ Bravo, he’d be an incredible asset

Ideally Cummins would go out for Nathan Ellis who is an excellent death bowler, but I don't think he's in the squad.

He’s not in the squad. Cummins just shouldn’t have been in the squad full stop, really. They’re pretty small squads

When they saw what Starc was doing with the ball he should have just stayed on for 3 overs at least, maybe even all 4 in a row.
To be honest, after seeing what their openers did with the ball Starc should have opened.

High speed fast bowlers + superbats. First six overs and last six overs are a hiding to nothing for pure pace bowlers.

He'll be out when any two of Green, Marsh, Inglis and Stoinis return. Fanning first out, then Cartwright. Philippe probably keeps his spot as a batsman when Inglis is back.

Whiteman has a lot of credit from past years but he’s been bad to start this season. So far in the Shield he has 0, 21*, 82, 2, and 0, with two golden ducks. One day he’s scored 14, 14* and 1.

Saw this note in the ESPN match report:

Veteran Shaun Marsh was a notable absentee yet again for WA when the squads were lodged. Marsh had been tracking well in his recovery from a knee injury, but his comeback plans were scuppered by a recent calf tear.

Multiple injuries despite not playing any matches in the last several months? That’s our SMarsh.

Also he's the captain, and he was MoM in the Shield final last year. The replacements are better fits for the middle order, so I think he's safe for a while.
