Yeah you'd never see a boring flat pitch here in Australia where a team easily makes 600 on day 1.
Careful, I called Optus a shithouse road and everyone disagreed for some reason

he's certainly a great, but a lot of that is pure longevity.England are going to pull this off ?
Where does Anderson rate in all time test pace bowlers ?
Crazy to think he's still delivering
In fairness to Anderson, he doesn't get to play away in the best conditions for his bowling style.he's certainly a great, but a lot of that is pure longevity.
He's also one of those guys that have got better (dramatically in his case) as he got older.
JA's career can be divided into 4 areas, one by time, one by locality. There's the first half of his career, and the second half (time), and home performances vs. away performances.
For the first half of his career he was solid at home (average 24-25) but rubbish away, averaging well over 30. And in places where he should have done well (NZ, Oz, SAf) it was more like 40.
It was like airports were his kryptonite.
Then the light switched on. Suddenly he started to perform away. And his home performances got even better.
The first half of his away career still drags on his stats though.
Current averages (neutral not counted)
Home avg 23.8, away 31.3
No other bowler in the top 20 wicket takers has a home/away average difference anywhere near what he has.
Compare that to...
McGrath - Home avg 22.4, away 21.4
Hadlee - Home avg 23.0, away 21.7
Steyn - Home avg 21.6, away 24.2
Akram - Home avg 22.2, away 24.6
Marshall - Home avg 20.0, away 21.6
Basically, if you were selecting an all time England team half way through his career you'd ask the question home or away? At home he'd be in, away it'd be Trueman, Tyson, Larwood etc. ahead of him.
Now, you'd auto him in at home and it'd be hard to leave him out away. Let's not forget how good Trueman/Tyson were. Tyson averaged 17.5 at home and 19.0 away.
Great analysis.he's certainly a great, but a lot of that is pure longevity.

I remember this article at the time, and basically SA don't and never have had nearly the boxing day marquee that old mate spruiked - it was a bluff, a 14 year bluff that ultimately didnt pay offSo we are playing the Saffers on boxing day for the first time since 2008.
I thought they had decided to start their own Boxing Day test match tradition? A cursory search has uncovered this 2008 article: South Africa unwilling to give up future Boxing Day Tests
But I haven't found anything on the reason for their about face.
Also, there is a documentary on Netflix at the moment about controversies in sport called Bad Sport, and one of the episodes is on Hansie Cronje - worth a watch.
Or.. didn't want to be publically hung out to dry for a second time.![]()
Warner refusing to air ‘dirty laundry’ in leadership review
David Warner has unleashed on the review panel in charge of his bid to overturn a lifetime leadership ban after dropping a bombshell decision on the eve of the second test in Adelaide. Read the statement.www.perthnow.com.au
Lol
Wanted to overturn the ban on him for his actions without discussing his actions? Was he planning to just run the Good Bloke argument?
Or.. didn't want to be publically hung out to dry for a second time.
Honestly not sure why he wanted to pursue the role anyway given he is planning to step aside from Tests in the next year or so.
Not a public hearing, that wasn't part of the deal. Evidently CA wasn't keen on the idea either. I don't see why it needed to be a public hearing and not surprised he wouldn't drag himself or his family through it again. It's a yoke around his neck according to him. No disagreement it wouldn't have been pleasant for him, but it was an inevitable part of getting it overturned.
He wants to be able to captain in the BBL, Thunder have said if it's overturned they'll make him captain.Or.. didn't want to be publically hung out to dry for a second time.

He didn't want a public hearing into something that was 5 years ago which I think is fair enough.![]()

I get most people really don't like Warner, but if you can put that part of it aside, his treatment in all of this has been disgraceful. A lifetime ban was incredibly over the top in the first place and was likely a result of how involved in the players bargaining agreement he'd been (and that whole saga was another disgrace by CA) and they've spent the past few months dragging their heels on the possibility of overturning it.
People get stuck into the AFL a lot but they are an incredibly well run organisation when you compare it to CAs history in the past decade or so.
Warner's bowling is garbage though! So... fair enough.Warner will end up in the Shane Watson camp
Watson was a very good bowler though.Warner's bowling is garbage though! So... fair enough.
Please don't sully this debate with logic and facts.Watson was a very good bowler though.
