Sh!t time of year to play cricket at that dump.

tbh there isn't really a great time to play there. Its a rubbish stadium (at least it was when I was there circa 2014ish).

Its amazing how 10+ years ago the big cricket matches (NY Test, Boxing Test, Tri-Series finals) were all played at Sydney and Melbourne because they had the two biggest stadiums (same as the four neutral tri series matches usually being palmed to Perth/Adelaide/Bris/Hobart).

Fast forward to 2023. Adelaide Oval and Perth Stadium are far superior venues, larger capacities, more modern. Still can't get a look in for preferred dates (AO in fairness did get Pakistan vs India 2015 WC as well as a semi-final for the World T20).

Honestly surprised that they haven't tried to use "WA good weather in August/September relative to everywhere else" as a reason to shaft us with cricket during the AFL peak times, they seem shocked when an ODI vs Netherlands running on a Friday night clashing with AFL and NRL finals wasn't well attended.

Melbourne was reasonably tame and they've prepared the sydney pitch as close to a sub continent pitch as they can forgetting that just provides a slow road.

Renshaw is going to be one of the more pointless selection decisions for some time

Came in at 4/468 so we didn’t need the batting depth. If the selectors wanted a look at him to see how he’d go on a spinning wicket they’re not going to get any usable evidence given the state of the game when he came in and the quality of the SA spinners. Might not even bat again if we declare overnight

He also doesn’t get an opportunity to spend time in the dressing room because he’s a temporary leper

Instead we’ve gone in with an undermanned bowling attack that will have to take 20 wickets on a pitch offering not much within 3 rain affected days less whatever time we spend batting either this innings or our 2nd

Would have been far better getting a look at Morris on an unresponsive pitch

Not a bad idea but I think Aus should just withdraw from Test cricket as its a dying format, and all other International cricket with it, and the Sheffield Shield can then resume its rightful place as the main cricket competition in Australia and run all through summer

It's really enjoyable watching your own team strangle other sides with elite defensive bowling but awesome watching a free wheeling 200+ slog fest between two randoms

8 T20's planned in the back end of the year. Good option to replace Finch.

Also if you think this summer is bad, we have 5 tests against Pakistan and Windies next summer. Pak here are gonna be worse than Saffa's you'd expect.
