Everyone get behind Labuschane to get 115 or more. Would make him the equal second fastest of all time by innings to hit 2000 test runs. You can guess behind who.

1 quicker than Hussey and 3 quicker than Lara. The only other modern players to challenge the order.

fu** looking at the FC stats as only 22 tests and 40 innings Headley for the West Indies would give the top 11 of all time a shake. 164 FC innings for 9921 runs with 33 100's and an average just under 70.

Scored 1066 runs in a single tour of Australia as well.

Cameron Green a very nervy starter. Reckon he wanted to just about leave that first ball irrespective of where it was going to pitch.

So who replaces Harris as an opener barring a miracle second innings century?

As much as green is a huge talent I don't think his bowling is remotely at test level yet and would be selecting Marsh over him if he's fully fit.

Khawaja for Head at 5?

The two 'A' openers (Street and Hunt) are carrying more Shield form than Harris. Add both Tassie openers to that list (Ward and Jewell). If we're using that as a guide, and looking for someone who's not 23-24yo Whiteman has better results opening, and a 100 coming in at three.

The cupboard is pretty bare - we are jumping to unproven or average long-term performers.

An average long-term performer is what he have right now. He's just woefully out of form against the poms.

Harris could duck the second innings and he'll still line up in match 2.
Most likely. Next most likely for mine is they try Ussie as an opener again, despite current form coming lower down the order.

Agree on both points. I'd rather Ussie than Harris.

I rate Khawaja too but Head coming in and scoring at a run a ball after a couple of quick wickets is exactly what the selectors would have wanted. Even though he hasn't been a prolific scorer, he usually makes a start and shifts the pressure back onto the bowlers
