One of the dumbest bowlers to play for Australia, comes from the Brett Lee ( He would be the dumbest ) school of thought, that when things go wrong just bowl faster, hope for the best and forget about maintaining control over where you pitch the ball.

Tonight the dude was our most expensive bowler, least dot balls, didn't take a wicket and conceded 9 wides.

Yet Cummins keeps Hazelwood, an over shy of his quota, me thinks, The Captain *ed up with the over calculations.

Glad to get the win and what a great game it was as far as being alive until the last ball, kudos to NZ that was an amazing run chase, didn't quite get there, but by gee they went very close.

Reminds me of a bowling version of latter days Punter.

Once they lose the raw skill that made them great - Starc is 100% a white ball great for me - they don't seem to be able to adapt.

Ponting was a walking LBW by the end and should have ended his career earlier. I feel similarly about Starc, seems to go for big runs all too often now (albeit most bowlers are going the journey during this WC).

Not the first time, either. You'd think a bowling captain would be better at that but I suspect he decides to give himself an over on impulse ("we need something here, I'll take the responsibility" etc etc) and doesn't adjust.

Starcs two biggest strengths have always been that he's quick and he swings it, that type of bowler is going to be expensive at times. When you have Cummins and Hazelwood in the team, you don't need Starc trying to become a line and length bowler too.
