Would love to hear an explanation for why you’d bring Zampa (having an off night) in to face Miller for 2 power play overs and end up with Hazlewood (2-12 at 1.5 RPO) with 2 overs left to bowl.
Head was under bowled also.

Seems like a decent chap Patty, but he's a poor captain in the white ball stuff.

The thing that winds me up is when the commentators won’t stop praising him for going to Head who got a huge breakthrough (and that praise is justified!) but when Zampa comes back on and gets belted over the rope they won’t second guess the captain.

One of the commentators on sky was

So SA batting first this tournament had gone 428, 311, 399, 382 and 356, and people's takeaway after we rolled them for 212 is Pat is a bad captain.
Bowling a side our cheaply doesn't mean you've got a good captain.

It was hard to bat on early and Starc and Hazlewood bowled well.

Tactically, he's poor.

Don't think he'd get a game if he wasn't captain (ODI's).

Ponting questioned the decision to bring Zampa back to Miller.
