Scorchers post mortem;

1. Someone buggered up our salary cap. How the hell was Bancroft allowed to leave?
2. If the answer to 1. is we signed Cam Green who then withdraw from the tournament then that is more than frustrating. I heard a story that when the WA Shield team were in Brisbane recently Voges stayed behind in Perth because he was left scrambling to fill out our roster.
3. Not enough from our big money import Crawley. Contributed to the worst opening combinations in Scorcher history. Connolly experiment failed, Whiteman has never been a T20 player, Eskinazi is just garbage (couldn't believe we re-signed him)
4. Turner. Absolute gut punch to lose him. Got us out jail a few times last season. His leadership was arguably even more important.
5. Richardson. Give it up mate you're cooked. The Liam Ryan

6. Agar. Speaking of cooked this bloke was playing white ball cricket for Australia a few months ago and now gets tonked by park cricketers. Someone on here mentioned we desperately needed a legspinner. Touche. I think we're gonna have to poach one.
7. Evans. Our best player. This has been mentioned before but why the **** do you sign someone who then has to leave right at the business end of the tournament?
8. Morris. What the hell happened in the last couple of games?
9. Gonna soon need a replacement for Tye, who's still decent but about 53 years old. Hopefully Matt Kelly is over his injuries.
10. Connolly (batting down the order) gives me some hope for the future. Learned a few tough lessons this season but will be better for it.

One of the worst top 3's in our history but yeah, let us chase.
Terrible decision at the toss.

The trouble we have, is we can't bowl sides out for under 150 and we can't make 150.

Losing Turner and Richo was the straw that broke the camel's back I guess.

The decision to bowl first reeked of a captain who was clearly lacked confidence in the batting order. A debutant in Fanning and another opened in Harris who hasn't played much T20 cricket lately while Whiteman at four hasn't had a great tournament.

Personally, I didn't have an issue with the decision to bowl first. The Strikers were 4/49 tonight and then 6/95, the fact we let them score 7/155 comes down to our bowling attack/captaincy.

Eskinazi has a very good record in T20 in England but is another who has missed the mark so to speak.
5. Disagree he is done, just needs careful management, the bulk of which will need to be done over the off-season. There's the possibility in the short-term he may only be a white-ball player going forward.
6. He had a pretty poor tournament, it must be said. He'll play the remaining Marsh Cup games you would think but will likely find himself played Second XI cricket while the Shield side is playing.
7. Absolutely need Evans back next season and for the whole tournament.
8. Didn't have a great couple of games at the end but was pretty good aside from that.

Boyce very much underrated. He has a pretty good T20 record and a very good T20I record from the games he has played.

Boyce very much underrated. He has a pretty good T20 record and a very good T20I record from the games he has played.

Oh I rated Boyce years back. I think his fitness went to shit and Hobart kicked him to the curb and he fell off a cliff for a while. Had a resurgence this year.

We still have a good bowling attack assuming Richo comes back plus Matthew Kelly.
McKenzie seems a good prospect and Connolly is better than part time.
Could probably get Hatzoglou back if we wanted depth.

CA have said next year, the test players will be available for the back end of the tournament.

Desperately need top order bats.
Didn't get value for money with Crawley.

Dan Hughes doesn't get a regular game for Sydney.
He might be worth having a crack at.

I think Josh Philippe is out of contract as well.

Eskers and Whiteman to get the chop.

Think it's time Aggers found a new home.
Optus doesn't suit him.
He can't hit it over a jam tin and has appalling body language at times.

Cam Green will be an interesting case over the next 12 months given he opted out of playing in the BBL this season. Up-and-coming left-arm spinner McKenzie has some fans and could attract interest. Hobson has stepped up when needed and should stay. Veteran Tye was blocked from playing with the Dubai Capitals but there appears to be no ill-will between him and the WACA.


Dream signing: Marcus Stoinis - How big would this be? The Scorchers could use Stoinis at the top of the order and let him reprise the role where he made more than 700 runs in BBL09. Perth has Laurie Evans and Ashton Turner as finishers, but adding WA local Stoinis at the top of the order would be a huge statement of intent from the BBL powerhouse.

Realistic target: Sam Heazlett - The Scorchers are always more likely to prioritise local talent than look outside the WA borders to bolster their squad. But Heazlett is a player who would make sense. He can bat anywhere from opening to No.5 and didn’t get a look in at the Hurricanes. It’s just whether he’s seen as an upgrade on players such as Sam Whiteman and Marcus Harris.
Priority re-signing: Andrew Tye - Seems highly unlikely at 37 years of age that Tye would move clubs. After a campaign where he took 11 wickets in nine matches with a strike rate of 16.8, Tye has earned at least one more year as a key cog in a formidable Scorchers attack.
