The Aussies need to inject some youth it should have been done at the start of this summer to late now.
The most important series are the Ashes & India tour. I would have dropped Smith, Khawaja, Hazelwood, Warner at start of summer , Lyon & brought in the likes of ,Xavier Bartlett, Ollie Davies, Teague Wyllie, Jake Fraser-McGurk to name a few
This post started off so well.

Not to mention Australia's best bat since Bradman with 9500 runs at 60 who very nearly single handedly pulled us out of the mire by carrying his bat. LEts piss him off as well as our two openers, our second best spinner of all time after Warne and Haze who did nothing this summer other than take 14wk @10 in this series and 11 @ 20 against Pakistan.

That will definitely strengthen our team and future proof it, especially when we add in a quick with only 62 FC wickets and 3 bats with 37 FC matches and about 1500 runs between them.

Good. I dont think there is anyone not in that top 6 that would do a better job currently.
Backing in the guys who have done the job the past 12 months is probably a more level headed response to an unexpected loss than burning down the team or worse, selecting Harris.
Honestly dont think any of Bancroft, Renshaw or Harris would have made a better fist of it (well with the exception of Head in the Brisbane Test). I suspect in the next few years we will see the emergence of some good young batting talent who will take over from the aging players but when they do come in with less than 50 FC games under their belts they will probably fail a few times at test level, get written off by the public, come back into the team, maybe fail again, go back work on their game and finally solidify their spot in the team as a 28/29 year old and have a couple of years before we look to oust them for another 19 year old that has played a few games but is exciting. This is the circle of Australian cricket.

I personally think we should’ve given Bancroft an opportunity as opener instead of moving Smith up the order to accommodate Green

That said, the decision has been made so they should be given more than two tests before making another change

Between now and the NZ series, Green should be playing every single Shield match he can to get some red ball form behind him

Its really a no brainer drop the oldies and bring in the next generation of players. The Kiwi tour is a great time to blood a few players, insignificant tour.

There is a reasonable argument for that but Bancroft is 31 now and will be 32 when we play India.
Which compounds the issue of an aging team. I'd rather we give Green more exposure at the level given he has a much higher ceiling and is 7-8 years younger. He is the future of this team IMO.
If they went that route of bringing in a specialist opener over Green then Renshaw is probably your man as he is 27 and has a longer life expectancy at the top of the order.
The other option might have been to bring one of Bangers or Renshaw in to open and drop Labuschagne and move smith to 3. He is the most out of form bat in the Top 6. I don't think that was ever on the cards though given how good he has been over a long period of time.

Apparently the first test in NZ is sold out already despite being a month away, insignificant my ass, should be a great series.

The fact we haven't played there in 8 years is a disgrace too just quietly. We should be playing so much more away tests than we do, such an easy way to help poor countries make money.

Those poor countries generally prefer to make money playing us in white ball cricket.

But we definitely could have had a few more series of those outside of Australia and India lately.

Will be interesting to see if Green plays in the Shield game this week.

Ironically, Smith and Green were the only ones who showed any fight in the fourth innings.

After watching the unbridled enthusiasm of Billy Mumphries... I mean The WI kids I wonder if it would've been worth a game for young speedster Lance Morris?

We need some excitement

I think he was expected to play. Also, born in England but a dual national through his parents.

It'd never happen but it'd be nice to have a united protest against India and their treatment of Pakistani/Pakistan-adjacent cricketers. Khawaja, English spinner, Pakistan didn't get their World Cup visas until the last day and had to cancel warm ups. You can imagine the s**t India would kick up if it happened to them.

Been pretty surprising that Khawaja hasn't tried to protest against India, particularly given his most recent tour would have given him the perfect forum after the outbreak of anti-muslim violence in August 23 and the increasingly adoption of clearly discriminatory anti-muslim legislation in August 23.

Mind you, haven't seen anything from Khawaja about the uyghurs in China or the ongoing persecutions and killings of the Muslim Rohingya.

Uzzie's moto being “All lives are equal” except when they are in India, China or Burma when compared to Gaza.

Interesting that Khawaja was so happy to participate in the fundraising for breast cancer research in the Sydney test, and yet hasn't done a thing about any other kind of cancer.

Yeah I mean a Pakistan born man playing in India after getting denied a Visa should definitely start protesting in India.
He made a small symbolic gesture against the war in Palestine and dickheads like you think he should either save the entire world or shut the **** up.
Very boomer of you.

He can't he has been named in the ODI squad starting on friday ..tuggs

so I hope they bat him in the top four but the dumb P**ks will not and have him down the order at seven ....which will s**t me

marsh is not playing in the ODI...so he bloody well should be playing the shield this weekend for WA

and what the F**k is going on with Agar ....not named for both ODI or t20 Aus squads....is he going to play this week in the ODI against NSW ????? ....rather Rocca for the shield on the weekend

I've noticed that Pat "Woke" Cummins likes to bang on and on about Climate Change, but he still breathes C02 which is destroying the planet.

Hypocrite much

These kind of stupid ass posts always remind me of this:

It is not the 'gotcha' or glaring hypocrisy they think it is.

Good call Westy, I'd forgotten about the ODI's.

Agar should be playing in the Marsh Cup.
I don't think he'd get a game before Rocco in the Shield anyway.

We really need to win both games this week.
