I can't see how England can hope to get through the overs without playing Leach.
Rain and storms the 1st 3 days should make it a shorter test. Stokes is bowling Im guessing? That means they can go with 4 quicks bowling 20 overs a day plus stokes bowling 10 overs a day. Root can chuck down some overs of spin for a change up.

Will lol if Lyon carves up. He doesn't seem to mind a pitch with a bit of bounce.

Was thinking more over rates. Stokes certainly isn't quick through his overs.

Anderson and Broad were never going to play every Test anyway. They’ll want to get Jimmy fit for the pink ball fixtures in Adelaide and TBC.

Broad, Woakes, Robinson, Wood and Stokes is a pretty versatile attack and could be dangerous in overcast weather, although bowling in Australian conditions is never easy for the Poms. Sure you’ll probably have over rate issues with no spinner but it’s a risk worth taking. Being conservative won’t win them the series.

Hope the Aussies take a horses for courses approach and give Richardson and Neser a run at some point. Unfortunately for Neser his likely best venues happen to be the first two of the series

Should be playing neser ahead of starc .

Have people forgotten how terrible starc was last summer ?

What has he done to deserve not being dropped ?

If starc was a right arm bowler would he even be in the squad ?

You spelled Richardson wrong.

and Lyon. To answer your question, no I certainly haven't forgot.

I read somewhere that Starc averaged 60 against India's top 6 last summer and Lyon 70. Absolutely zero accountability for performance.

Starc keeps getting picked coz "variety" and he apparently digs up rough for Lyon to bowl his straight breaks into.

Bounce is his one wood. Good chance he has an influence on the last day. He is also a much better spinner than Leach

Pretty sure darts at the bottom of middle and off are his 1-wood. Every wicket the bloke has taken have been batsman errors.

Neser at the gabba has a ridiculously good shield record
Richardson is the superior bowler (younger too). And if you're replacing Starc, Richardson's extra pace makes a lot more sense than Neser.

I do hope Neser gets a cap at some point though, he would deserve it.

Not saying nesser for the series just horses for courses.

Just like starc should probably play the pink ball game .

Holy sh*t, apparently the Scorchers will still play their home games in Perth this season similar to how us and freo still played them in Perth too. I thought they were going to have to play them interstate. Good news.
Are you sure?

Pretty sure our second "home" game against the Strikers is being played in Sydney.

I know someone who is working a couple of shifts at Optus when the Scorchers play, i completely forgot that we've had a game moved already, I just assumed they all would be here.

So it's not looking like the highest quality tournament so far. A lot of teams without much depth.

BBL has always relied on grade cricketers to pad up the additional 2 teams added into the comp.

It also has to be the only Domestic T20 comp in the world where the countries best players don't play due to International duties. If the summer were scheduled in a way that after the Sydney Test Match, all Australian players and players from the touring country (except India) made their players available for the Big Bash and it was the centrepiece of cricket in January then the standard would lift considerably.

I know CA earmark some players from early on stick thick with them (Both Marsh bros, Phill Hughes, Watson) but I gotta say I don't see anything in Travis Head really and I see him being absolutely found out this series. Im not big on Uzzi but much prefer him at 5. Might actually flourish not being at the top of the order.

I'm no fan of T20 cricket anyway, but I do check the BBL scorecards from time to time and I'm always surprised to see people paying pretty decent $$ to see some of the names on the team sheets. Fine cricketers in their own right... First grade, directly below shield cricket is a bloody high standard, even if it has decreased over the last two decades... But if I'm parting with cash to watch a game of cricket, those aren't the sort of names I'd expect to see on the team sheet.

It also doesn't help having an Australia A game on this week.
That's another 11 cricketers you have to have replacements for.

No Broad or Anderson in the Pommy line up! Bodes well.

HoneyBadger35 how excited are you mate? Only 15 minutes before the 1st ball of the Ashes.:)
