Richo not in the Australia A side due to play the Lions. What am I missing?
He's 12th man for the test side, they're usually not released if there's a test due in the following weeks, or until at least the 4th day (tour match starts tomorrow).

The BBL won’t be a respectable competition until they create a window for the local players. So many shitlords playing in the first few games and the standard hasn’t been great.

A month for the BBL, starting a bit earlier? Then onto the international summer.

EDIT: maybe the other way around so the Test players get Shield fixtures heading into Tests.

Anyone want to take a stab at a best XI made of former Scorchers? Can expand to any West Australian if needed.

God looking at this England batting line up, none of the England batsmen including Root who's been out of form have the temperament for test level and the skill to handle gun bowling attacks. Not helped they chose to bat in conditions that helped our bowlers and they pounced resulting Cummins taking five wickets. I get Anderson and Broad are old and near the end of their careers, Anderson particularly but they should've played as they better than Woakes and Wood with the ball and bowling first would've helped.

This England side is weaker than the one in 2017-18 where we won 4-0 (Thanks flat MCG pitch) and in 2013-14 where we won 5-0 and I reckon this Australian team is stronger than the one in 2013-14 and 2017-18. Expect another five nil drubbing. Smith, Labuschagne and Warner will destroy their bowling attack. If only we had a great opener alongside Warner (hopefully Pucovski) and a gun number five batsmen then we'd be unstoppable.

Root for me lacks the tactical nous as captain and this England team doesn't have the heart and character that helped India defeat Australia in 2020-21. Rahane was able to get the best out of a weaker Indian team and showed his great tactical nous with his bowling changes and field plans. Also helped that India had a temperamental patient batsmen in Pujara who was down from his 2018-19 form but faced a lot of deliveries to blunt out Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins and Gazza. None of the players in the England team can do it on a consistent basis.

Stokes alone makes this England team stronger than 17/18. Root has also been in ridiculous form this year and Burns is capable of playing the stubborn Pujara role, despite what they showed today. It’s too early to be writing them off completely but they should have bowled first and I suspect the non-selection of both Anderson and Broad will come back to bite them

Laurie Evans sounds like a 70yo retired accountant. Bats like one too…
