For me ODI cricket is the best of both worlds. 50 overs, can still defend an average total with great bowling and a better balance between bat and ball. Standardise bat sizing (maximum thickness through different parts of the bat and materials) so no longer ridiculous super bats and you have perfect cricket.

Guys like Starc, Richardson, Wade, Mitch Marsh are custom made for this form of cricket. Could also see the return of genuine medium pace specialist swing bowlers. Something I think the game now really misses.

I have said for a long time they should prepare the pitches thusly:

T20 - favour batting
OD - favour bowling
Test - balanced between bat and ball.

Given most of the players are grade cricketers at best it's at least consistent to have umpires that are also below standard.

We made 196.
The first 10 overs set us up.
Bash Boost point is pretty significant now though. Adelaide have won one game and lost two but they’re only one point behind us on the ladder because they’ve got the bonus in every game so far.

They've also played one more game.

The point is important but I doubt teams think about it when batting first, unless they only need a point to make finals.

In a way, it disadvantages the Scorchers because we like to bat steady in the first 10 and keep wickets in hand.

Exactly. Happened last year a few times IIRC. It’s a dumb rule but regardless it’s still 25% of the total available points.

I wonder if there are stats of how often the team batting first gets the BBP vs the team batting second

Richo as 12th man sitting on his arse for most of the Test was an odd choice too. I certainly didn't want him throwing himself around to field while Warner was off.

I'd say scans showed something to rule Hazlewood out but as far as I know Warner's just bruised so it's just whether that goes down enough before Adelaide. He probably could have batted but not worth it chasing 20.
