Play abandoned because Adelaide can't stop sucking. Two wickets is a great start for the overs they got in but it would've been nice to get longer at these two under lights.

As long as Marsh is fit to bowl 10 overs an innings he's a much superior player to Green at this stage.
Yep. Green is a project player and should develop nicely. But if you're picking the best XI right now, then M. Marsh is back in.

Love Green though.

Scratchiest ton I've seen an aussie bat make in yonks.
Bob Simpson used to say something along the lines of "On the days when you're scratching around and have no rhythm if you eek out a half century you could walk off knowing at last you have contributed to your team." That's pretty what much what Marnus did in the first innings.

He rod his luck no doubt, but he also hung tough for a long long time.

A very untypical Australian century, which in it's own way was great to see.

Gee, have to strongly disagree here.

Green does the business at FC level and showed enough with the bat against India to suggest he’s up to the level. He’s the brightest young prospect we have. You don’t toss that to the side so quickly.

He’s doing the job with the ball and in the field, have faith.

Agree. He gets the series to prove his worth IMO. Mitch has barely seen a red ball in a year, although he did spank an England 3rd grade XI last week.
Green mis-judged one last test that jagged back a fair bit and then copped a fair seed yesterday. You cant tell if a batsman is in or out of form because they have spent no time at the crease in 2 innings. The next 3 innings will paint a better picture.

Greens got two decent deliveries (very) early in each innings that he’s misjudged. It can happen.

Given that England have been bowling so few deliveries that were online to hit the stumps he can perhaps consider himself a little unfortunate to have received 2 of them

The Ricky Ponting analysis of Green's stance being too open is really interesting. I like how Ponting can point out something that he thinks is a problem without slurring a player's ability or even talking in absolutes about his opinion. Shane Warne, you could learn something from this...

Green also strikes me as a player who will listen to criticism of technique and work on his flaws.

As opposed to the more typical reaction of "my technique got me this far, I don't need to adjust it"

So what do we think. Try and bat through till about 40 minutes before the nominal dinner break. By the time changeover happens, get maybe 8-10 overs in at the poms before the break and then have a long post dinner session to hopefully clean up 4-5 wickets only leaving 5 to take on the last day?

Yep. something like that. Runs won't be an issue. When Malan and Root get together just bring on Green. Bang bang, into the tail, then 2-nil up.

I worry they'll bat too long because they'll want to have the new ball under lights, but at the same time we could probably declare with 5 overs left on day 5 and still win this. I've never seen someone look as broken as Buttler does.

Trott during the Mitch Johnson series?
