Yep. Green is a project player and should develop nicely. But if you're picking the best XI right now, then M. Marsh is back in.As long as Marsh is fit to bowl 10 overs an innings he's a much superior player to Green at this stage.
Bob Simpson used to say something along the lines of "On the days when you're scratching around and have no rhythm if you eek out a half century you could walk off knowing at last you have contributed to your team." That's pretty what much what Marnus did in the first innings.Scratchiest ton I've seen an aussie bat make in yonks.

Gee, have to strongly disagree here.Yep. Green is a project player and should develop nicely. But if you're picking the best XI right now, then M. Marsh is back in.
Love Green though.
Agree. He gets the series to prove his worth IMO. Mitch has barely seen a red ball in a year, although he did spank an England 3rd grade XI last week.Gee, have to strongly disagree here.
Green does the business at FC level and showed enough with the bat against India to suggest he’s up to the level. He’s the brightest young prospect we have. You don’t toss that to the side so quickly.
He’s doing the job with the ball and in the field, have faith.
Yep. something like that. Runs won't be an issue. When Malan and Root get together just bring on Green. Bang bang, into the tail, then 2-nil up.So what do we think. Try and bat through till about 40 minutes before the nominal dinner break. By the time changeover happens, get maybe 8-10 overs in at the poms before the break and then have a long post dinner session to hopefully clean up 4-5 wickets only leaving 5 to take on the last day?
I worry they'll bat too long because they'll want to have the new ball under lights, but at the same time we could probably declare with 5 overs left on day 5 and still win this. I've never seen someone look as broken as Buttler does.So what do we think. Try and bat through till about 40 minutes before the nominal dinner break. This .Wish we'd enforced the follow on but they never do these days.
Trott during the Mitch Johnson series?I worry they'll bat too long because they'll want to have the new ball under lights, but at the same time we could probably declare with 5 overs left on day 5 and still win this. I've never seen someone look as broken as Buttler does.
