I woke up late but my phone was acting up and it had the Aussie first inning score from last time and it was like 4/145 and i was quite surprised when the phone refreshes

I'm going tomorrow, I'll be in the pub by midday.

How prophetic you were ECE .......... off to the pub for a steak sandwich lunch and some celebratory pints :beermug::beermug::beermug::beermug::beermug:

I heard that the ECB have commissioned a new Ashes English 2021/2022 team logo for the last two tests.

Apparently this:

Is being replaced with this:

I reckon that while they are at it the ECB should change their own logo too:

Compare the pair. Which has aged better?
Boland had bowled average at the time of posting. Starc bowled excellently after that point also.

What impressed me as the match went on was Boland’s ability to extract the right amount of movement out of that deck. You could tell he’s played plenty at the G.

That seemed like a very unique pitch for the MCG though - don't think I've ever seen one like that for a Boxing Day test since I've been following.

Yeah, I think it was probably in response to the criticism people have had over MCG Test pitches of late. Was great to see.

Both sides have pretty brittle batting line ups, I reckon the pitch was perfect for epic Test cricket.

Yeah I know mate, at the time it was a fair call, just funny how things can change so quickly with those 2 taking 9 second innings wickets.

Apparently the curator, Matt Page, changed the clay composition in the base of the drop-in pitches. Dude has some big fans in high places in Australian cricket.

Side note: Dazzler used to play grade cricket with him back in the day.

Wish we had the depth in batting that we do with the ball. Boland probably still finds himself behind Richo, and on par with Neser (who was the big loser today, sadly). Then we have some good options behind them such as Steketee. What we're probably lacking are some real 18-20 year old tearaways on the horizon, but we'll find them I'm sure.

Harris making an incredibly scratchy half century is less pleasing IMO. Needs replacing ASAP.

I agree. I hope I'm wrong but this might be a net negative as time goes on. It means we stick with a liability for longer than we should.

Counterpoint: who else you gonna open with?? (OK, Khawaja, but he's 35).

At this point it's clear we are stuck with Harris until the end of the series at least. So we'll have to wait for the Shield to return, but Hunt is the one I like. Hopefully he keeps churning out runs. Street needs to up his FC strike rate to somewhere in the 40s until he gets taken seriously IMO.

I swear this happens once a season with us. We send a team in for whatever reason, they make 200+ and we sh*t the bed. Every season. ffs.
Inglis and Turner really need to refind their previous seasons’ form. Played all the pleb teams thus far, don’t reckon the side’s good enough to win the final

Pucovski hopefully

Australia's batting overall is shaky. Smith no longer certain for a big score, Warner is ok and Marnus really had to grift his way into that last ton. Head is showing some promise but his ton came against Anderson or Broad and Green looks all sorts.

As compared to what?

Easily good enough to win it.
You can only beat who you play against.
Beaten Hobart twice who are third.

It can't be easy being on the road and getting no home games either.
Was a bad choice to win the toss and bowl IMO.

I'd be surprised if we don't at least make the final.

Top 2 or bust for the Scorchers this season factoring in our start, also considering we wont play any more games in Perth finishing 2nd is as good as finishing 1st. I'd be disappointed if we finish lower than that.
