The structure of the domestic season is an absolute mess, I agree.

Which other country has its T20 competition at a time where its international players are unavailable? It's a joke.

The BBL is a heavily diluted competition barely worth watching. I don't really tune in to many games, and haven't for a couple of seasons now. COVID doesn't help, but it's an issue outside of that.

The Shield has to be running during home Test series.

I think Jimmy Peirson deserves to be in the conversation. He is a better keeper than either Carey or Inglis, and has two Shield hundreds this season.

After last shield season Inglis should have got the gig. At 26 he is 3-4 years younger both Carey and Pierson and more importantly just entering his prime as cricketer as well.

I never got the Marsh hate, and think its the perfect example of some prejudice against WA players. Solid middle order batsman with 7ish (haven’t checked) test hundreds. He and his brother were always scape goats and easy targets for selectors and the east coast media.

Agreed. But at least my suggestion doesn't displace our two best performed batsman. Anyway, it's a moot point as opening with Green is a terrible idea.

I'm the biggest Shaun Marsh fan in the word, but he'd be far less of an easy target if he didn't go on runs of ducks and single digit scores.

Better than under-rated. I actually think he was our best ODI batsman for a stretch there but the test blowback hurt his reputation (along with his injuries) and he never got the continuity of opportunities in the top 3, where he really needed to be.

My wife got me the old Test Match board game for Christmas. Not the one with the felt green mat, the metal ball and the plastic fielders (have had that one since I was a kid), but the even older 2D one from the 1950s:

It's so bad it's good. It's 100% luck-based, no skill required at all. And I'm pretty sure it would be possible to be bowled by a bouncer.
