Considering 8/8 BBL clubs have had players test positive, I can understand why CA doesn't want players jumping back and forth between the BBL and the test squad.

These days there's a concussion sub rule where you can have 5 players in reserve as "like-for-like" replacements at any time in the test. Bison and Inglis are there to cover for Green and Carey respectively. Last test Neser, Swepson, and Maddinson were also held out as concussion replacements.

I suspect Inglis was the better choice, but he was put in an impossible position of sitting on the bench during the T20 World Cup and having no Shield form to pick him off. Carey became the only viable option, and is now the default choice for Pakistan.

Inglis should be selected as the back up keeper for that tour, and I hope he can keep pressuring for that spot. It means that even if Carey does keep it, it'll mean he's found an upturn in form.

I assume we'll take a backup keeper on our upcoming tours.

Unlike previous tours were we've had batsmen who can keep - i.e. Handscomb, Wade - we don't have that option with any of the current batting cohort.
