In his defence, he averages 56 in first-class and 47 in tests. It's a weird stance but it works for him.

Will also point out that he has fielded in this series for 329.1 overs, watched his teammates bat for 265 overs, and then faced one ball. Hard to blame him for not being at the top of his game at the crease.
