And to think the ICC have fought for years to reduce the number of minnows at the ODI WC. Idiots.

They fought to shorten the length of the tournament, which means fewer matches, which means fewer teams and they go with the power and money. Always with the money.

10 teams at the ODI WC is a joke. At least the next T20 World Cup is going to 20 teams instead of the 16 at this one (although apparently the qualification system is a mess, Netherlands might still miss out)

If the ICC had their way, it would be a one game group stage between India and Pakistan, with the top team hosting the second team in the semi final, and the winner of the semi getting to host the loser of the semi in the final.

If Pakistan win today the dutch will qualify automatically wouldn't they, for finishing top 4 in the group?

Richardson, Behrendorff, Tye, Paris, Kelly, Hardie, Green, Mills, Morris, Marsh
Paris isn't with the Scorchers this season. He's a Hurricane.

Edit: Also the right one of that bunch to let go IMO. With Hatz, Agar, and Turner as the slows it's a pretty decent lineup. Problem for me is the top order since half the top 4 from last season aren't here anymore. You'd imagine Phil Salt takes one of the spots, and I suppose Cam Green takes the other.

We won the last World Cup.

Didn't even make it to the next stage in this one.

What happened?
The format of T20 will always leave results open to some volatility, and also the format of this tournament is such that one bad match (like the one against NZ) can more or less sink your chances if it comes down to NRR. Look at today for example, the Netherlands are obviously not a better side than South Africa but on this day they were better, and it often just comes down to a few moments in the match, like a brilliant catch or a ball that just sneaks over a boundary rider's hands for six instead of being out. That's part of the issue but I think that too many of the players selected (Finch, Maxwell coming into the tourney, Stoinis, Cummins, Smith) were just not in very good form.

Ah well. Weather and Aussies aside, it has actually been a really good tournament to be fair. Some really competitive results from the Minnows. Have enjoyed watching the neutral games way more than the Aussies which is nice.

Firmly in Camp Kiwi for the remainder of the World Cup. Cmon you beautiful Black Caps.

The Black Caps are my favourite second favourite side.

They play good cricket without the poxy English media being plebs.
Not that this England side is full of knobheads either - Broad and Anderson aside in the tests

I guess if you believe Stokes was trying to ‘save the gays’

Expanding to 14 teams from 2027 but yes, still a joke.

Netherlands have qualified for the 2024 edition as they finished in the top eight teams at this year's tournament. Asia regional qualifier will be good though.

Pretty fickle is T20 cricket.

Good to see the smaller nations do pretty well. Hopefully the ICC let's them "regraduate" back into the 50-over game.

In a tournament marred by shit weather and poor crowds they've been a bit of a shining light.
