Expanding to 14 teams from 2027 but yes, still a joke.

Netherlands have qualified for the 2024 edition as they finished in the top eight teams at this year's tournament. Asia regional qualifier will be good though.
Yep, had Bangladesh or Zimbabwe won yesterday they wouldn't have though. Having the number of qualifier slots for each region not dependent on the teams that directly qualify is a bad system. If none of Ireland, Scotland or the Netherlands had directly qualified, they couldn't all make it and in a 20 team WC they should all be there.

Does USA automatically qualify for the next World Cup if they are hosting it ?

I reckon the ICC (and a lot of others sports) are probably taking a look how Formula One managed to capture the US market via Drive to Survive and would consider it a lost opportunity to properly market T20 cricket there.

Lots of Indian expats plus the odd bloke of Caribbean descent would make up a majority of the interest there, another nation that could be on the rise though.

really can't wait to see a netflix series on the hyderbad sunrisers....
Not sure Cricket has the glitz and glamour that F1 has harnessed quite a bit of its audience from. Who are they going to build a rivalry out of?

Australia ODI squad vs England Pat Cummins (capt), Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa

Australia Test squad vs West Indies Pat Cummins (capt), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner

So that a big F88k you to Jhye in regards to the Test squad against the Windies

I don't think there's any surprises there. Michael Neser would be in the queue ahead of Jhye at the minute.

Marcus Harris?

**** me.

You've tried Harris, guys, he's not up to the level. He's had a good run now in different conditions against different opponents and he's not good enough. Put a line through him.

There is at least one doco on Mumbai Indians on I think Amazon? I didn't watch any except the 2 minute preview and laughed the whole way with the fake "OMG this group stage game 4 of 14 is life and death!!"

Pretty fickle is T20 cricket.

Good to see the smaller nations do pretty well. Hopefully the ICC let's them "regraduate" back into the 50-over game.

In a tournament marred by s**t weather and poor crowds they've been a bit of a shining light.

Unfortunately the longer the format the more these smaller nation teams get exposed

Interesting thread on the US T20 league launching next year

In fairness to the US about 1.8 of the 2.5 billion are just in the subcontinent.

Another 600 million are ex-pats from the sub-continent living abroad

I did a bit of research, and Minor League Cricket has a team called the Manhattan Yorkers which may be one of the best team names I've ever seen in cricket.

US Cricket have had hosting rights of the next World Cup stripped from them due to corruption so I wouldn't be too confident in anything they run.

Games will still be played in the USA, but the Windies are the host of the tournament, like how last year's World Cup was played in the UAE but hosted by India.

Good thing we don't follow any other sports where the supporter base is so concentrated in just one location. haha, imagine that, right?

Difficult for me to follow my pelota team as all games tend to be during the afternoon in Spain. :(

Prime Minister's XI squad: Josh Inglis (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Peter Handscomb, Aaron Hardie, Marcus Harris, Henry Hunt, Todd Murphy, Michael Neser, Matt Renshaw, Mark Steketee

He is better than abbott and steketee
