Warner will finish after the ashes you suspect.

I don't know why I think he will go out with a bang - history tells us he struggles in tough conditions.

Cricket history is littered with players who perform far better at home compared to away, but 60 v 34 (Away & Neutral) is a whole other level of disparity.

XI for first Test
Usman Khawaja
David Warner
Marnus Labuschagne
Steve Smith
Travis Head
Cameron Green
Alex Carey (wk)
Pat Cummins
Mitch Starc
Josh Hazlewood
Nathan Lyon

I don't remember where I read it, but someone mentioned wanting Green at 5, and Head at 6, which I think works better that the opposite.

What is the record for number of tests using the same 4 frontline bowlers (8 to 11).

We'd have to go close with Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon.

During our dominant era it was always Lee, McGrath and Warne but the 3rd seamer often rotated between Gillespie/Kasprowicz.

Agree. Green likes time to build an innings, Head goes hard from ball 1. I actually think Green is well suited to #4 in the longer term, once he's racked up a few test centuries and Smith has retired.

Lee was 12th man a lot in the early 00s, I reckon the Warne, McGrath, Gillespie, Kasprowicz combo would be the leader from that era

Plenty of teams over the years with 3 walk-up starting bowlers but not 4

South Africa was always Steyn, Morkel, Philander + whatever spinner was around
England was always Broad, Anderson, Swann + the next best seamer

Someone had the number last summer, I think it's in the mid to high 20s and was second at the time.

How many of you guys living in Perth are going to get along to the Test?

I've booked days 2 and 3 in Melbourne- always wanted to get to a boxing day test so taking my 2 boys as a surprise trip. Cant wait. That will be my last of the big 5 grounds to watch a test. Saw plenty at the WACA and Gabba, went to the SCG a few years ago and saw the first D/N match at Adelaide Oval some years ago. Bellerive and now Perth Stadium are the only 2 missing but neither are the traditional Test grounds that the other 5 are.

I'll be going day 1 and day 4/5 if it's still on. I quite like watching tests at Optus, top tier behind the bowler is a great view and you get basically the whole area to yourself.
