He may be ok against spin but the problem is they’ll bring Umesh or Bumrah on to bowl full and straight to pin him LBW. Showed a clear deficiency against full and straight fast bowling in his last Test stint.

Hobson has averaged 114.67 (two centuries) in 50 over cricket in WACA First Grade this season and 32 in Premier T20 cricket so there is some merit to the selection. Coincidentally, both Hobson and Eskinazi open the batting for Claremont-Nedlands in the WACA Premier T20 cricket competition.

Perhaps but you’re picking a proven domestic player over a grade cricketer. Hobson is also 28 and it’s not like you’re plucking a kid and trying to develop him into a player

I agree with your opinion. Was just outlining the rationale for why they'd show faith in a local player such as Hobson.

I'd think Eskinazi would get a gig in the second half of the tournament.
