I have still yet to figure out what Hobson brings. At least Lyth has played well at times overseas. Hobson is a local guy who has very little potential for the future, he doesn’t bowl, and he only bats above the bowlers.
In an ideal world, he's a specialist twelfth man

Just realised that Aaron Hardie was actually born in Dorset. Should have picked him in place of Green for this dead rubber to guarantee his Australian status.

With Cam Green being the same age and the preferred all rounder he may think his best chance of a Test career is with the Old Enemy.

If Hardie continues his Shield av he'll be around the test squad soon.

I think people in Perth know when they’re being given the shaft. Getting a test against a woeful West Indies side in November, right after a much higher profile event (T20 World Cup) and a somewhat higher profile event (England ODI series), made it pretty clear that they were just tossing the scraps to Perth. Adelaide has the advantage of day/night play and the other cities are hosting matches during school holidays. Perth hosts a boring, poorly-advertised test match against a bad side in November/early December and people are surprised that the crowds are small.

Add to that what Keys posted last year that CA admitted they have the TV audience in mind over east for the Perth test matches.

It goes well beyond this though, CA has treated WA fans poorly for years. Sporadic ODI and T20I matches, ODI's that start at 11:20am, Scorchers' matches that mostly began at 4:10/4:40pm in the early seasons of the BBL. Then there's the Afghanistan test we were given which was eventually cancelled plus not getting games despite having an absolute world class stadium, one of the best in the world. In addition, the treatment of Justin Langer which was frankly embarrassing.

WA cricket fans have had enough of being treated terribly and the crowd at the recent test against West Indies was hardly surprising.

I think the recent crowds in the T20I against England and the World Cup showed that WA cricket fans will turn out provided we aren't treated as an afterthought.

I maintain that Carberry was actually quite undeserving of the blame that he took after that series. He had quite a lot of starts, scoring in the 30s and 40s, but never was able to go on with them. He also had some really unlucky dismissals - ball trickling back into the stumps, a couple of balls that he crushed but right at a fielder who made a good catch, caught down leg side at least once, marginal LBW decisions.

Anyway, facing the new ball in Australia against what is usually an elite pace attack is difficult for any player, let alone someone like Carberry who's just trying to get started in test cricket. I think it was easy for England cricket to just dump Carberry after the whitewash because he was in his early to mid 30s and, unlike the other English underachievers in that series (which included the likes of Root and Stokes), he didn't really have the high ceiling or age on his side for the selectors to continue backing him in.

Carberry averaged 44.33 with a strike rate of 127.27 for that particular season. He had a pretty good tournament and was the fifth highest run scorer.

The heat are the worst team in the comp this season, we shouldn't have too much trouble tonight.

Who are you and what have you done with the real ep2018?

Suryakumar Yadav just hit bis 3rd T20 hundred and they all came in within 6 months. Only Rohit Sharma has more centuries (4) and he's now equal second with Maxi and Colin Munro

So this test heading for an uninspiring draw

Well done Sydney. Another damp squib of a test

Lyon's reaction made me think it was a bump ball.
He looked ropable
Still frustrated at those two close lbw calls I reckon

Surely simplest fix to the catch issue is to not have Kettlebrough who's a great on field ump and terrible 3rd ump as 3rd umpire.

3rd umpire should really be a specialist position these days.
