Inability to play against spin in the subcontinent rearing its ugly head. Scoring has dried up and Warner and Labuschagne get out trying to bash sixes because they've been soaking up too many dots.

To me it looked like a decent wicket that favoured spin a touch but was a good batting wicket as well. Without the ball swinging looked a 300 or so pitch to me particularly with the smaller indian ground sizes and modern superbats.

I know im an old campaigner who yells at clouds but it ****ing shits me now how a forward defensive shot if well timed is a ****ing boundary. Modern bats have just become too powerful for the weight.

my 1992 World Cup special GN scoop is almost double the weight of the top bats now and outside of the sweet spot (which is still very ****ing sweet and powerful) the rest of the bat would be lucky to be half as powerful as modern ones. Back then you had to time the ball right and middle it to get it to the boundary or for a six.

In 95/96 B&H match against Sri Lanka Mark Waugh hit to me the best and sweetest shot i've seen. Almost straight down the ground during his innings of 130. It was ****ing huge and was close to going out the ground. Literally talking about the one the purest timers and natural talents the game has ever seen play the shot of his career. With a modern bat it would have landed well outside the ground.
