I've never understood the hatred that MM gets' from the public.
Regardless if people think he's a spud or not, he just looks like a sensational fella.

100% correct, he's a 'great around the boys' selection at the very least ;)

The hatred is strange though... Perhaps the perceived nepotism from his old man being coach (even though that is coming up 25 year ago) gifting him early opportunities, or being linked to Shaun's merry go round of recalls at the end of his international career.

Either way, he has grown into a mature world class cricketer. A bonafide T20 match winner, it is so great to see him translate that to test arena in a difficult situation, facing serious heat.

After he got going last night I did chuckle to myself that when Australia was in trouble, and Wood was cranking up, that the man strolling out is a West Aussie who devours quick bowling - sucked in England.

The fact mitch has been facing the wild thing in the nets the past couple of seasons probably made him one of the most accustomed cricketers facing express bowling at the moment.

Hopefully watching that innings is good for Greeny too. He's not as naturally attacking as MM is but he could learn a bit about not getting too bogged down early.
It’s a great example cause how Greeny starts an innings is very similar to how this bison started early in his career

I largely agree it is that whole concept that everything has come too easily for him. Then when the early performances didn't back up the promise he was a very easy target to jump on. Yes Cam Green has been better at the start of his career but, arguably not massively so and definitely not to reflect the extent of the hate that Mitch got at times.

Honestly I think that Mitch's biggest problem of the long term now is that his body just keeps breaking down unfortunately.

Plus there were a lot of people who believed that selector Rod Marsh was his uncle.

Runs scored off the bat in Australia 1st innings :

Mitch Marsh 118
The rest 122

Costly drop by Joe Root

Shame

lol :tearsofjoy:

Nothing like a few taunts from those in red white and blue 🇬🇧 to get The Bison fired up.

Mitch has always been one of the most humble and best fellas you could meet. Would chat to anybody back at school.

If the Australian public had actually tried to embrace him a little more they'd have learned that pretty quickly too.

Though I will admit, having camped right on the SA/Vic border last night with no reception, opening the scorecard this morning was a bizarre and wonderful experience. Good lad!

Bit of a zesty pitch?
