Not too sure I like this decision. If only Bangers was around.

You do also have Whiteman in the squad as well who is captain of the 4 day squad, but looks like writing is on the wall for him and being first choice for Turner's spot

I think Hobson will come in for Turner.
Or maybe they will bring back Eksinazi to open and drip
Connolly back down the order.

Hope it's just Hobson for Turner.

I'm backing Voges to get the captaincy right with Hardie.

One of the most washed out, limp wristed, fake as a politicians smile apologies I have ever seen.
It's like he had a gun between his shoulder blades and a cancel contract threat in front of his nose.

Talk about apologizing through gritted teeth. He wasn't even trying to sound sincere.

I mean that wicket at the end just shows how crazy it is that a side like Pakistan have gone into an MCG Test without a frontline spinner.

And the umpires seemed oddly allergic to calling wides that first session. Some real loose stuff from the quicks.

One that was called 4 byes down leg was incredibly harsh on Rizwan

I don’t Perth will ever draw decent crowds unless it’s a big series against India or england (potentially saffas). It’s both WA cricketing fans and also the CA at fault imo. The two big cities have marquee games, Adelaide is historically significant ground and the test there with the the tent at the back has always been a but event fir the city it self. Brissy when they open a test series is a marquee and they generally do well.

Next year India is coming here for 5 tests and I doubt they will give Hobart ago when we not only have a much bigger Indian diaspora but also India don’t have a great record in Perth. 2018 when we hosted them the crowds were okish but that was also just after sandpaper gate without our best two batsmen. This time around there should a lot more bums on seats with the two best sides in the world going head to head.

Where would they play the fifth match? Isn't Gabba out of action for renos or Olympics or something?

There is no doubt the Perth crowds are disappointing but it isnt ever held during full holidays, it’s not a given if there will even be a Perth test each year or when it will be (so hard to build up the tradition) and club cricket is still being played but isn’t for the other tests (not sure if that’s just as its Chrissie and NY etc or they stop it for the other tests). So a large part of the cricket fan base are playing on the days they aren’t working.

nah, weather is a legitimate factor when it’s melb or syd. For some strange reason not being school holidays or the heat in Perth are non-factors
Also cost of living crisis just before Xmas and people are still working .

Bet if the total crowd numbers are down from last year Melbourne test across all days bugger all will be said.
