It would have been funny to watch him nick off cheaply, but I genuinely do hope he cements down the position through it being a wild success. After being tortured through Warner's lean runs of late I'd enjoy seeing Smith put a few big scores on early.

The worry with Smith is his propensity to square up. It's increasingly bringing him undone, as his age increasingly diminishes the reflexes that enabled him to overcome an eccentric technique. Opening the innings will only exacerbate that issue.

While he'll take the plaudits for the WI, I also really liked the look of McKenzie and Greaves as well.

Surely Morris debuts in Brisbane, we'd be silly not to with an ageing attack and weak opposition.

Pitch was tricker than normal tbf. Few of the WI greenshoots did a bit which is more than was expected really.

In fairness to WI, we didn't bat much time either. Head makes our first innings look better than it was shaping up to be.

I'm not hearing any criticism of the pitch itself but it has offered plenty to the bowlers as far as I can tell. I haven't watched any of it live but was it a bit too spicy or just genuinely good bowling versus average batting performances?

If I had a ticket and booked the day off I'd be going for sure. Soak in an hour of cricket and then off to the pub for a long lunch.
