Anyone heard any rumours about the line-up for this years BDO?
1st announcement is normally in October but thought there might be a few BF people in the know.

Credible rumours are Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay so far.

EDIT: Coldplay have since said they won't be there as they aren't playing stadiums or outdoor festivals at the moment.

Has the supposed venue crisis been resolved yet? I was under the impression that they were giving the Showgrounds a spruce up and that it was to be unavailable for Jan 2006.

Ghost, you are correct.

The showgrounds is a construction site. Before the last BDO, all nearby residents incl. myself were given a leaflet from Lees and West regarding the BDO and it's future at the Showgrounds. At the moment, there isn't any future for the BDO. The plans that I've seen, show the main arena to be 1/4 the size of the original arena and in the Lees and West leaflet, they said "they doubt there will be another BDO at the Melbourne showgrounds".

The rumours I've heard are either Oly Park, and the two ovals towards Punt Road (although i doubt this because I can't imagine Collingwood giving up their training ground for the day. Saying that though, the Auckland Warriors let them use their home ground 1 month before the start of the NRL season) OR Sandown.

Rod Laver and Vodaphone are unavailable because of the tennis, although they could push Melbourne back to the last Sunday which is a week after the finish.

When you think about it, there isn't alot of places in Melbourne to have it.

thinking there would be a fair chance SOAD may be there, or at least be touring over the summer.
I have no info to back this up other than their second album since they were here earlier this year is being released end of the year.

Yeah, but they will have released two albums everywhere else in the world too. I hope you're right though. :D

Of course. Whenever BDO comes around I'll only have enough money to either go to the BDO or a show of one of the performing bands. I almost always choose a side show of one of the bands because I'd rather see a full set of a band I'm really into rather than a bit of a whole bunch of bands I like.

:D . Yeah, it is only David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain. Did you manage to catch the doco on Arthur Kane? Showed the band just before he died and they sounded red hot. I'd still go to see them.

I'll go anyway, as should anyone up for a wicked day. Great fun. The peppers are a strong rumour and it ties in with a new album and possible tour early next year. The peppers are the greatest band on the planet and im very excited thinking about it, but its all in hope.
