Big Ezy retires

Criminally underrated by the AFL media but at least we got to see him demoralise opposition forwards. Better than Rance in my opinion when robbed of his AA guernsey.

Will be sad to see him go hopefully he’s imparting his knowledge on Barrass and Gov

Awesome career E-mac.

An absolute warrior in every sense.

Career killed off by that ACL. Still managed to play some pivotal moments for us - most famously running into the post against Port.

Hopefully the club does the right thing and awards life membership despite missing the 150 games (In any case it's not you need 150 games for life membership, it's 150 games guarantees you life membership so it wouldn't be breaking any rules anyway).

Great servant of the Club.

Another of the many Claremont KPD to have played for the Eagles.

Shame he didn’t play another three games and get life membership at the Club.

Great career thanks Big EZY your a West Coast Icon.

All the best in retirement.

eMac has been super player ...Great club guy .

Another career ends short at west coast

The AFL HELD and enquiry into umpiring at Optus

Maybe they could spend some coin on why do many west coast players careeer end early ...

It’s simple.....travel ......sitting on plane for hours on end post games shortens our players career ..maybe not eMac though

Rest ezy big ezy

I was told that Eric Mackenzie has missed out on the WCE life membership because he has played only 147 games (3 games short).
With his great ontributions, I think the Eagles should award him with the life membership as an exception.

The 150 games is automatic life membership, the club can award life memberships to anyone they think deserve it.

There are no strict rules about life membership. 150 games just means you are given it automatically.

There's been quite a few tweets pop up echoing his sentiment. Most of them have been liked by the west coast eagles twitter account

Now I recognise that the social media handler for the club is a fair way down the totem pole but I'm certain there'll be feedback up the food chain that there's strong support for Mackenzie to be granted life membership

And going by Simpsons demeanour in the presser EMac is very highly regarded within the club

At the very least he can be pencilled in for the Mainwairing medal for best clubman

Just had to post again here, a tribute to Eric demands more than one post by me.

Cracking video of his top 5 moments.
His disposal was pretty poor at the start, but he cleaned that up, Eric was always reliable in taking on the big forwards, buddy TCloke etc etc.

Hope the crowd get to say farewell at the prelim, he will get a massive roar.

Poor bastard. Article mentions that they only other option would be to physically fuse his toes together and that might not even fix the problem.

The doctors have tried to figure out WTF is going on but can't figure it out. Must have been incredibly frustrating to miss out on a lot of the best period the Eagles have seen in over a decade.

Alongside with Matt Rosa, two of my favourite Eagles of all time. Much maligned players, who struggled with injuries, who may not have been the most incredibly talented but gave their all for the club.

Both players retiring this year at only 30 and 31, pretty young for AFL footballers really

Hope he's kept around the club in some capacity. What a beautiful man and enjoy football retirement !

Sad that he was cut down so early, still in his prime. He could have been of the best modern shutdown key defenders.

Well said. On reflection i feel pretty gutted.

He should have gone down as a dual AA player. In fact it was the biggest joke that Rance got in after missing like 5 games in 2014.
