Agreed on Hartung, but if he had no footy smarts how does he get 20+ touches a game? He is bloody frustrating with ball in hand though. Impey I'm definitely keen on, but I can't warm to the idea who him being superior when he gets 11 possessions a game, even taking into account his attack on the ball and man and defensive pressure.
Impey is not getting regular midfield minutes at the Power is he?

Okay let's stop comparing impey and hartung. Impey is not a wingmen. He ave 12 touches at 66% last year Billy output was double in a team further down the ladder.

Impey is a small defender or fwd, he best games are as fwd where kicked a bag on a few occasions. He will hopefully complement cyril and breust in the fwd line nicely . They could form a dangerous trio.

On what basis is Impey and upgrade on Hartung I'm keen to know? I think Impey will be good, I think he has talent but he currently has no specific area or ability that is superior to Hartungs. I think they could be paired together and grow and compliment each other, but I just can't see where Impey is superior.
Impey goes when it's his turn for starters. Better defensively, better contested player.

Jarman Impey is a Shepparton boy.

Given all the country kids we’ve recruited during Clarko’s time, I think that’s a big factor.

I’d imagine that Yze would know a lot about him too.
As would Rob McCartney who has returned to the Hawks.

Essendope first The Weapon followed by The Package. No wonder their supporters are a bunch of dicks.
I call him the Pineapple. Personally I never saw what all the hype was about, spots and spurts but no sustained effort week in week out. Players that are less talented but bust a nut for the team every game are worth their weight in gold. Just my 2cents

That still rankles now, he flew the flag in that instance, as he did everytime actually as Tummy Porkins well knows, and gets thrown under the bus by those three in an orchestrated campaign.

Much lols a year later when Hodge and Lewis get rubbed out against North and Clarko punches a prick in Adelaide the week before.

All we heard then was silence.

The way Eade used to give it to Lake and also the Grand Final recall when both Omith and Lewis say they thought Gunston should have won the Normie makes me feel a bit sorry for Brian...it's like cos he's a big unit and a bit weird people think he just needs a rev up..I reckon he just needed a bit of love
Our marketing didn't do much on Lakeys normy either. Seems a bit weird as Lakey will now become a popular media persona

No we finished just outside the top 8 with 25% of our squad injured and having very little to do with our season.

Due to the above injuries we found some beauties.

Picking up Impey Or Balic or whoever else we take from some sides seconds is not going to push us forward.

Unless we manage to pick up a walk up start we have enough Box Hill battlers to provide the depth required given we have a decent run with injury in the pre season.
Yep. Have a feeling we might need to be patient in this trade period. Maybe 12 months patient

I will preface this by saying I haven't seen much of Impey, and I agree at this stage overall it would be hard to argue that he is superior to Hartung. However, looking at his highlights he looks DIFFERENT to Hartung in breakaway speed and evasiveness ie lateral speed. Hartung looks as if he takes longer to reach top speed and is less elusive in heavy traffic.
If he ends up with Burgoyne like lateral movement he will be handy.

Interesting comments by clarko. Been bold with the Hodge trade all those years ago and how it all worked out. Is he getting us ready mentally for another left field manoeuvre?
If we are after top 5-8 picks for this and next year then outside of 5 or 6 players, anything can happen.
