If Ricky Nixon being there today as an adviser isn't an indication of how much the industry is just one big boys club I'n not sure what is.
Ricky got asked to leave.

They do if they want to bring in Watts and Rockliff.
They said they could fit them in without anyone going out... Like Port fans are saying Port don't wanna trade Impey, Impey has requested the trade.

Apparently AFL officials kicked him out not long after he arrived which gives me some hope

I don't get excited about two minute highlights and all the clap-trap that goes with picking out a future star but, I was extremely impressed with those clips, looks a likely type, exactly what Clarko would be looking to add to our list. Yep, I'm on the Garner train, MUST get!
Sorry, why Garner to us and not another club? Do we have some kind of dibs?

Wallace last week said 32 is pretty much what it should take. I'll take his view over the bias views of Port fans.

Being that we are the perennial nice guys at the trade table, we'll pay more than this though.
It's not the Port fans you need to worry about it's the fact Impey is Ken Hinkleys favourite player. He's rated hugely internally, even if us actual Port supporters don't rate him as high as they do.

That isnt a real job. Simon Lethlean will be a club CEO a few months after being sacked by the AFL.

That is the big boys club.

And he is a pretty big fish.

Good question, I don't think we know his price. A former #1 pick, but performing mid range. If he was a pick 40 and playing the way he is, he's probably in the straight swap for Impey category, but I'd expect Melbourne will hope for a end of 1st/start of 2nd round pick, something between 15-25. Unless they're super keen to move him on to free up salary space and then he could go cheaper.
Why would Watt's drafy pick 8 years ago have anything to do with his trade value now?

Ditto with Impey.

Ditto with any player.

Are we allowed to discuss what Impey might cost us? Or is that hypothetical??

32 plus 60 for Impey and 64?

Return on investment, if more was invested in a certain player you'd want to get more back to return on the investment you made.
That's not how it works.

Just because I paid $20,000 for a Toyota Camry 5 years ago, doesn't mean I start selling it with offers over $20,000 now.

Ditto with shares on the ASX. Doesn't matter what it was worth when I bought it, what matters is what it is worth now.

It is how it works. There is a natural weighting that is added to a commodity that someone had once paid more for but has now dropped, versus a commodity that someone paid very little for once and is now worth more. It might not be logical but it just happens.

Without being disrespectful. That won't get it done. You underestimate how highly the coaching group rate him. Your 32 won't even be enough alone. He's contracted and they won't let him just walk for what they'd consider unders.
Pah! Everyone outside of Hawthorn and Port have him rated late 2nd round to 3rd round pick. Hawks think much higher and devalue, whilst Port fans screaming that their player is pure gold.

Didn't impress towards the end of the season and needs a change. He's chosen the right club.
