I wouldn't be surprised if Rockliff lands at the Hawks. I don't see how we can get Lever though. We would have to do a trade with the Crows and with no first round pick that would rule us out of the mix.
Get on board the rocky train - he is exactly the kind of player we need. 1 x rocky + 1 x polished mid

You would think Rocky would want to go to a finals bound team having played his whole career in bottom sides.

Unless he is just chasing $ of course.

Either one likely rules us out anyways, we rarely offer the highest dollar and its very unlikely we will play finals in the next 3-4 years.

We have the option to trade our 2018 first rounder. That was confirmed a few weeks back. And I'm sure GW can find a few different ways to do a deal.
Personally I hope the club keep that 2018 first round pick and not fall into that temptation of trading it again. They need to draft an elite young talent to develop soon because our 19-23 year old players is just about the worst in the league right now.

A 2018 first round pick would get us either a key forward or a promising young midfielder. Sooner or later Hawthorn are going to have to find a replacement for Roughead to play as a key forward. Outside of O'Meara and Mitchell, our midfield falls away badly.

They need to find that decent 3rd and 4th string midfielder who can complement those two going forward. I'm not apposed to getting some more free agents in who can help both in the short and long-term. I feel like the club needs to have one of those off-seasons where they go all out for the draft and have like 4,5 or even six live picks.

Fortunately we would be trading with Adelaide who are similar to us in trying to get a win-win for trades.
It's not like Gold Coast last year, who were after a win-lose.

You could leave the bolded part out to be honest, everything else is spot on though.

I don't get all the hate, Vickery hate, if Rough wasn't captain would his position be safe on current form? Oh but wait we could run TOB through the tall forward role he'll have that covered, oh but wait he's not knocking it out of the park either, ahh but let's call on Schoey to bring back that 2015 grand final game that we waited years for, nah when things don't work we on here with only a few exceptions just hate, maybe our recruiters understand this and understand that Vickery was capable of scraping out on average around two goals a game in a crap team, with a massive amount of backlash from his supporter base, would seem a pretty good fit at the moment.
Geez guys critique players, throw up better options, but come on posting terms such as sh!t truck and spud and basic hating on players is the way I see a SUPPORTER base going about it with a modicum of class.
No one likes the way we are playing at the moment and even when we were killing it we on here were looking to be even better but let's not have a club board looking like the main board, lurkers would be pissing themselves.
End if observation, stay classy.
Thanks mod morning thumbs

I hope the club isn't looking at Dusty. While he would be a welcome addition to our list, I dread the cost that he would bring. We would have to pay overs in both money and length of contract, to avoid Richmond from matching, seeing we have no trade assists in picks, to get a trade across. I think that Dusty would have the same effect as Buddy at the swans, a potential list killer.

Yeah I agree no matter how good Dusty is, its unlikely we will be able to do anything in the next 4-5 years. Hence no point overpaying for a 26 year old.

Our list is in a similar type position to say the Saints 2013, so we have to try and follow that blueprint and we should be competitive in 4 years time eg like they are now. Bains or whatever his name is has done a good job building the list though, hopefully Graham Wright can do the same as us.

Yeah, let's not take our cues from St Kilda on absolutely anything. A club that hasn't made the finals in 5 years and despite two decent wins in a row - if they missed the 8 I wouldn't be at all shocked.

Yeah we can all laugh at their history etc, but the fact of the matter is 4 years ago they were an ageing rabble, now in early 2017 they have a young list on the way up. If you think its going to be a quick turn around with the current demographic of our list them I'm afraid your sadly mistaken.

If (and it's a big if) we landed May or Lever and an A grade mid like Dusty or Rocky we would not be too far off.

Assuming we lose Gibbo, Hodge and Burgoyne we could line up as follows:

Stratton Frawley Hardwick
Burton May/Lever Birchall
Hartung Mitchell Smith
Bruest Gunston Rioli
Sicily Roughead Stewart
McEvoy Rocky/Dusty JOM
Int/Depth- Duryea, Swiss, Howe, JOR, Ceglar, Willsmore, TOB, Schoey, Shiels, Vickery, Poppy, Langford, Brand, Henderson, Fitzy, Kiwi, Morrison, Lovell, Hanrahan, Cousins, Glass, Nash (this doesn't factor in delistings/trades so this list will change).

Not a bad list of guys like Cousins, Morrison, Glass ect continue to show positive signs at BH.
