Yeah we can all laugh at their history etc, but the fact of the matter is 4 years ago they were an ageing rabble, now in early 2017 they have a young list on the way up. If you think its going to be a quick turn around with the current demographic of our list them I'm afraid your sadly mistaken.

Ever since I first followed footy, St Kilda's had a "good young list on the way up".

Even master coach Alan Jeans could only win 1 premiership with that rabble!

Just thinking, maybe we need to look at poaching more teachers as assistants. In the past we have had; John Kennedy Snr, Clarko, Brendan Bolton and Chris Fagan. All of them coincides with great eras for our club. We need to recruit heavily into teachers/coaches!

You make a good point but I'm still tempted to hire an ex club champion with no coaching experience

bit of a tangent, but this is worth a look:

i was really disappointed watching last night. A club great and by all reports, had a lot to do with our success at the draft table.

Really surprised to hear no one thanked him for his services post departure. Actually references "coach" and "CEO".

Always a possibility there's more to the story I guess..

That was disappointing to be honest, but as he proved in 85 where was regulated back to VFL, he has the drive and ambition to transition from VFL Club Manager to an AFL one.

For me I feel the biggest hole on our list are Midfielders with some leg speed. I hope we are having a serious look at Mitch Honeychurch from the Bulldogs.

Struggling to get a game as a small/medium sized midfielder, he is behind the guys like Daulhaus, Liberatore, Caleb Daniel, Picken and Wallis (once he returns) With the Bulldogs success of late, and the Boyd Contract, surely money is tight with many underpaid premiership players coming out of contract, he may be expendable and come reasonably cheap. Don't get me wrong, he he flaws, his disposal has been questioned and he is a bit undersized at only 176cms, but he is young, hard at it, quick, can win his own ball and can play on the outside and inside as well as up forward as well.

Out of contract at the end of 2017, and would walk into our team at the moment.

Very interesting, especially because on Emma Quayle's podcast about the 2001 superdraft, Turnbull specifically mentions how Clarko thanked him and the team before Clarko for their contributions to building that 2008 team, and how much he appreciated that...

He is an average footballer who can't kick. No thanks

As long as he can throw it well, kicking's not too important in the modern game.

Haven't seen much of Honeychurch lately but he's at the Bulldogs so I'm sure his handball skills are somewhere between Laurie Daley and Jonty Rhodes...

Just casting a net here, spitballing if you like (hypotheticals if you like) but with JJ at the Bulldogs at some sought of an impasse at the moment and the supposedly tightening dogs salary cap. I was thinking with JJs tighter than tight friendship with Jake Stringer, if JJ was to leave would Stringer be gettable, would we be interested?

Love JJ to bits but pretty flummoxed at the idea we will get him.
