As long as he can throw it well, kicking's not too important in the modern game.

Haven't seen much of Honeychurch lately but he's at the Bulldogs so I'm sure his handball skills are somewhere between Laurie Daley and Jonty Rhodes...
In Laurie's defence, he played a lot of Aussie Rules growing up and even threatened to code switch during the Super League war. Reckon his hand ball skills might have been half decent!

Very interesting, especially because on Emma Quayle's podcast about the 2001 superdraft, Turnbull specifically mentions how Clarko thanked him and the team before Clarko for their contributions to building that 2008 team, and how much he appreciated that...

This probably needs its own thread I reckon.

Bucky was an exceptionally talented player, and brilliant recruiter/talent identifier, but doesn't appear to have the sort of communication or management skills, required for the roles he was passed over for.

A frustrated genius type I'd say. Shame the club couldn't harness his talents better, certainly gifted at identifying talent.

Seems highly ambitious, but in need of recognition as well...

A fascinating interview with a great of the club.

Are JJ and Stringer actually friends anymore....
What do you know SD? from what I've seen they looked to be close enough to be at the head of the rainbow parade down StKilda way (don't burn me, as in "there's nothing wrong with that" thanks George), think JJ and Stringer and you have to think Kutoufides & Christou, so whats up?

So with Brand being snubbed two weeks running - safe to assume our negotiations with May are a fait accompli?
Definitely gone in a trade at year's end...

Brand + our 3rd Rounder for Eagles 8th Rounder, perhaps?

Maybe Melbourne will snub them & drop Pick 96 on him?

Very puzzled by the Brand situation.
He looks very promising to me, exactly what we need. Should be an automatic selection.

I'm sure the club knows more than I do, but I'd like to see him in the team.
Got dropped and we won a game. Not a perfect science sure but our defence ticked along well last week

It's an odd one for me too. Hasn't set the world on fire, but doesn't do a lot wrong and it's not not like we have a stack of big body defenders knocking the door down at selection.
Watch the StKilda game and see that he was out of position a heap if times and similar to Sicily was seen on a couple occasions giving it to Frawley, when it was Brand himself that was in sixes and sevens ball chasing and letting St Nick get off the chain. Is Brand part if the future, sure he is but its worth remembering he didn't play much footy last year recovering from both shoulders being reconstructed then missing early games this year with a broken hand. I'm sure with a string of good games he'll be back and not look back, more than likely in conjunction with Birch's return.

Hey Guys,

This mail is a couple of months old so things may have changed, but the #1 big fish on the Hawks list is Tom Lynch (GC).

No idea how you get it done without a first rounder so don't ask me, but that is who they are after. Perhaps it's even part of a plan to get him at the end of next year, I don't know.

Also another tidbit, Hawthorn was apparently the only club in Victoria that didn't enquire about Dion Prestia and it was entirely due to his kicking efficiency.

Interesting, cheers mate! Out of interest, how is young Kieran Collins going for you guys? Was a few that were miffed when we didn't draft him.

Tom Lynch would be on every clubs wish list, I expect.
Does your info suggest we are in the box seat? Or just interested?

Lynch is a free agent at the end of next season
But he is uncontracted at the end of this season! interesting what happens from here on, whether he signs a one year contract, a long term contract or pretty much asks for a trade at the end of the year?! GC wanted Shiels/Breust and they may be the only way the Hawks can facilitate the trade off.

If he asks for 1 year extension then that is a pretty good sign he is on his way out at the end of 2018. Would make a nice Roughie replacement, or allow Roughie to get a couple more years as our 2nd tall.

Even with only 1 year left on his contract GCS would be expecting at least a very good 1st round and probably a 2nd round or a quality player.

Well there we go. Lined himself up nicely with Free Agency.

Not sure its a big fish but Aliir is still out of the side in Sydney and seems on the outer. He has a huge amount of talent and can be one of the best key defenders in the comp in the next few years, I would go after him
