You think the "leaks" are an accident?

They're probably chasing a St Kilda player...
This is exactly the method of operation for Martin's manager, has always shopped him around via media and leaks in the past why would he change now, remember the grand tour of the GWS facilities last time and the grand slap down from SOS a day later. Staying a tiger for mine as this is starting to play out like his last contract negotiations.

Just seen that Whitfield and Greene from GWS are out of contract in 2018. Tom Lynch is a free agent in 2018. I think let's hang off until then!!! lets start saving our picks and warchest for these 3!!

Can't save the warchest. We're under the cap this year which means we have to go over next year.

Yeah but you just frontload 2019's payments into 2018. Simples

Of course, but that would then deplete the warchest. My point is if we don't use it on free agents etc this year, then we can't really use it on free agents in 2018 and would be like any other team having to structure a deal that's possibly backended.

Yeah agreed, except we would have a greater capacity to front load, albeit not being able to over pay the cap.

I think we're in a no lose situation this year really.

1. Our young guys are underexposed as a result of our success, and would have suppressed wages as a result.

2. Our older guys have glory years behind them, and:

a) Can't on current performance demand more coin, and:
b) Are on good coin and will retire shortly, freeing it up.
