Big forwards

Look we get a few defenders back and who knows we might see Rough, O'Brien, Gunston, and Sicily plucking marks in our F50. More than happy with that. I like the fact they are playing Nash forward, let's hope he learns a few more tricks.

Tend to agree that some of our backs that are natural forwards will likely find themselves in offence after getting back Stratts, Frawley and Birch.

Unless some of our more established stars are dangled as trade bait given how the club have acquitted themselves in the back half of the year...

big forwards win finals.
Its not so much that quality big forwards win finals but rather teams who lack one often struggle to score. Its all well and good relying on a mosquito fleet in H&A games but small forwards generally struggle to have an impact in big finals more than talls do, without enough space to operate.

If worst comes to worst after Roughy retires we can rely on Gunston and a resting ruck, but a genuine gorilla to lock down FF would be awfully handy.

Roughy does not even play like a big key forward anymore so we need one already, what was Rough's contested mark numbers this year ?

Poor for his position, he mainly got contested grabs on mismatches. That was the strategy though.

That's the thing. I love the Big Rough becoming a crazy big utility. His crunch time moments in the midfield are great.

But as he gets older he might plant himself in the forward arc more

It's funny with Rough, he seems to have done the opposite to every other bloke and is spending more time up field as he gets older. Same thing as Riewoldt and Richo but without the marking ability.

What about someone like Sam Day from gcs? He's contracted and injured but could be the forward we need if can get him fit again.
Swap for stratts / Birchall etc.

I thought he was going to be pretty good when I saw him in 2015/6 (?), but he's not done much since. I know he played in defence a bit since then, but haven't seen it.

The gcs website says: 98 games for 65 goals & didn't play a game this season?

He seems to be performing well below what his ceiling should be. If we could work out & rectify why, then he could be a bargain. Not sure though.

Popped his leg out of the socket so hard he broke bone off in the preseason

Sounds like Jack Russell just got himself a new project!

Seriously though, I felt sick just reading that... Poor kid. Hope he's 100% better someday soon & not just for footy.

It was nasty as f***, hopefully he makes it back.

I don't quite get how people can't put it on if their workload and caloric intake are on point. I put on size even when I only do body-weight exercise and drop heavy weights altogether.

Having said that, I can't run for shit.

I couldn't put on weight until I hit my 30's. I didn't get it either. People would always say you should eat more, like I never thought of that.

I don't think adding weight is of value to some players due to their general frame. TO has a thin frame.... he is no Ricutto.

X Ellis became fat when he retired from W.C. He wen't to 90 kegs and had to start watching his diet. Was that age? Was that an opportunity lost during his career? I think, regardless of his weight, that he probably didn't get the best out of himself due to application.... which is a judgement I am making from afar based on things I have heard.

i look at that whinger T. Walker and I think he looks too heavy. (I hate when he takes a mark and he splays himself on the ground like an iguana, ala M. Lloyd, soaking up the 'me time').

TO will never be a power forward. I wonder what he could be if he was our 2nd or 3rd long marking target??? At the moment he is a role player, a structural player, who seems to be sacrificing his best position. Still questions on whether he can be more than that.

Paul Puopolo is our single very obvious example. The bloke is a ball of muscle in a club that doesn't focus on the strength in strength and conditioning nearly as much as others.
Not quite right. We absolutely focus on strength but target the core rather than the upper body.

His parents just moved to Brisbane so doubt he is going anywhere.
Zanotti Files on Facebook reports that Schache moved his belongings by car back to Vic last weekend. Somehow linked to Hawks, along with Rocky.
Don't shoot me! I'm only the messenger! Can't see how we could do it, but it's on Facebook so it must be true!

I thought he is staying now?

Vickery McEvoy Ceglar O'Brien schoey Gunston Sicily as well as rough and Pitto is a fair array of keys which I'm sure Clarko will like moving around to create problems
