Adelaide, Brisbane, Freo and North were all on my radar for having some quality talent and a scope to improve.

But who really knows. A lot can change in a season.

If Port go from 16th to a 11/10th, does that make them the big improver?

But Western Bulldogs, North or Adelaide

Have to pay this - fair call last year - you picked the 3 teams that came from outside the 8 to play finals and Brisbane were also very good after a terrible 2011.

North, Richmond and Melbourne absolutely need to make the 8 next year, improvement is to be expected. All 3 clubs have had a long time to rebuild, time to deliver. Most likely club for surprise improvement like West Coast this year is Fremantle, I think they can contend for a flag next year.

[sarcastica]Yeah, good call. [/sarcastica]

We played in a prelim in '07 and an EF in '08 while the other two were collecting high draft picks like pokemon and we still got back up again before them.

North. Not sure when it'll happen, but I think they'll be a damn good side at some point or another. Not sold on their KPP stock, but they have two very capable ruckmen and an abundance of potentially good midfielders; most importantly, like Hird at Essendon, Scott's teaching them to play finals style football.

[nosarcastica]Good call[/nosarcastica]

North were a damn good side for 13 weeks.

What makes you think you're up?

You'll likely be the latest in a long list (including ourselves) of eighth finishers who get there asses handed to them in the first week of the finals, you had a ridiculously easy draw (not your fault), and had an absolutel arm chair ride with injuries.

I'd take Richmond's list in an absolute heartbeat over North.

10 of our last 12 - our good form and not the draw have seen us make the finals.

"Long list of eighth finishers who get there asses handed to them in the first week of the finals"

8th Essendon in 2011 and 2009 were woeful and un-competitive.
2010 - 8th placed Blues lost by 5 points
2008 - 8th placed Pies beat the Crows
2007 -8th placed Hawks lost by 3 points
2006 - 8th placed Dogs beat the Pies
2005 - 8th placed Port beat the Roos
2004 - 8th placed Ess beat the Dees
2003 - 8th placed Ess beat Port

Since 2003 every 8th placed team have won or got within a kick!! Except - Essendon 2009 and 2011 who were pathetic. You have proven yet again you know NOTHING about this game and should be banned from posting. You are an embarrassment and added to a long list of posters with no idea.

This would be a mistake at the current time.

I'll concede that Richmonds midfield is of a better quality but North have it all over them for KPP's and quality depth.

Norths short comings are far easier to address than Richmonds.

Haha cheers - pretty clear that they should have all been improving in 2012

Freo - destroyed by injury in 2011 and acquired Ross Lyon who is a fabulous coach.

Adelaide - scary good young Mids and forwards.

Brisbane - champion players mixed with talent is always going to click at some point.

North - good KPP and spine with dangerous smalls.

In 2013
It's Carlton, Essendon, Brisbane to make the 8. Gold Coast to move out of the cellar. Although I do very much think that 2013 will be much like 2012, if not more even. West Coast, Hawks and Sydney to own the top end.

No chance - the Weapon was not sacked - just demoted.

2012 - 8th placed Kangaroos lost by 96 points

Lol.

Haha, surely they couldn't have a run as bad as this year in 2013. I'm not completely sold on essendon though, they don't seem to have particularly good forwards and they rely on Jobe a lot.
That said they looked phenomenal at the start of this year (marathon not sprint).

Easiest draw in the 1st 10 weeks - played 18th, 17th, 16th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 10th, 8th, 5th, 4th. Only travel was to play GWS and Suns. That is a gift and why most over rated how good they were.

So 3 teams have had bad losses - how is you long list going? Understand your team is new to the AFL but that is no excuse for having no idea.

He said you lost by 96 points.

His no idea is fairly accruate. North showed it still relys heavily on Harvey, Petrie and Wells to be competetive. If they don'y fire, they lose by 96 points.

I think you have missed the point - the poster stated 8th place is a graveyard and the top 8 is crap. 6 out of 9 have won or got within a kick. His long list is really a short list and he guessed and guessed incorrectly.

And if Brent Stanton can't break a tag and fire you go from 2nd to 11th. At least we have 3 players we rely on - you have one - that you boo from time to time.

3 out of the last 4 ;)

I was mostly trying to point out the irony of your post though, as you inferred that the guy had no idea when he said you would struggle and you seemed to think it would finish within a kick.

You then lost by 96 points, making it appear that you yourself had no idea.

3 out of 9. Unless you feel that a long list is a total of 4 games?

The only thing I inferred was that the long list of teams finishing 8th had not got their arse handed to them - which i stand by.

You cherry picked one part of his post (which admittedly was inaccurate) and then proceeded to viciously lambast him for it claiming he knew "NOTHING" about football. But when it came to gameday he was much closer to the mark with his prediction than you.

In actual fact, the main part of his post was questioning whether you could say the kangaroos were back 'up' after finishing 8th once since 2008. A question that appears to have some merit following their performance last weekend.

Then when I responded, you claimed I had 'no idea' as well.

Trying to project peoples' football understanding based on their knowledge of elimination final results is fundamentally flawed and it seems like you're just clinging to it desperately now because you were so far off the mark.

Wrong, Buddy kicked the winner and we finished 5th
