Big Movers this year, Saints?

The big move would come from a more aggressive pre-season to take away from both the fade outhalfway through the season, as well as the second half fade outs throughout.

I have always believed St. Kilda have had the strongest list in the AFL and now with better admin and some highly qualified coaches to assist watson, they are balanced right across the board.

No longer will they have only rely on the likes of Harvey, Loewe, Burke and Spider, for now they can look right across the board at players like Young, Hudghton, Jones (reportedly training well), Brown, Heatley, Mitchell, Peckett (always consistant), the Wakelins and Thompson. Throw in an up and coming star like Fred Campbell and the side looks very strong.

Now imagine if Monky were to hold the ruck together for a quarter each game, it would free up Spider to drop into the forward line and we all know how dangerous he can be there. If Sean Charles were to rekindle some of that form from when he was with the Dees then wouldn't that add a little bit of excitement which hasn't been present of late.

Honestly whether you barrack for the saints or not you will clearly notice not only the strength in their list but also the depth.
Whether you will be truthful to yourself or not Reggie, the Saints will be a force this year because you are well aware that they have the potential.

I saw the saints in a practice match on friday night. They were very good, the inclusion of charles, monkorrst and plapp. Browny, jones, mitchell, all looked good. I have neverr been more excited. With a good coaching staff we are going all the way. Barrry Hall looked very good. Go SAINTS IN 2000

You are all legends in your own nightmares. Just wait until the season is over before making complete morons of yourselves

As much as i'd love to see Saints move up the ladder. I can't see it. Maybe final 8 just. Need a consistent season for a change. Good luck to them anyway but Go LIons

Let me get this right, The main reason the Saints will go well is because they will have Monky, a player who couldn't make it into the worst team in the league. Right !

PS I've got some real estate in queensland you may want to buy

A group of has beens are not going to make the saints any better at all. As said before monky couldn't get a regular game with the wooden spooners let alone turn around the saints. jones had one good season and now is nothing more that a bench player at best. fred campbell is an unknown quantity and sean charles wasn't even comitted to his country league team. The saints will continue their slide down the ladder especially with loewe and burke ageing and harvey injured all the time. The big improvers for 2000 will be Fremantle and Hawthorn.

Hawks should do well but Freo ? If so they didn't warrant the AFL assistance they got

Watch out for Port Adelaide - They're the next team to watch in my opinion

Saints will be on the slide in 2000, they have picked up nothing but garbage in the draft, and Tim Watson is a very ordinary coach..Stan Alves had more idea about coaching than Watson does which doesny say much for Timmy.Everitt will probably go to Collingwood in 2001,some of their better players are getting old..going to be a hard couple of years for the sainters.

strongest list in the AFL ??? St Kilda ???
puh-lease buddy !!
essendon manages to win 18 games last season with both Jim Hird, and scott lucas playing no role at all. now that is a list. as for aussie jones- that guy is a total hack. its one thing to have one good year but once evryone learned to shut him down- his career went down the toilet. st kilda is an average side at best, and if you think Monkhorst will save your hides from being whipped, week in week out, then your in for a depressing year.
but thanks for your input.
:)

While I agree that StKilda does potentially have the list to make their way into the top half of the ladder, I can't really see them playing off for the grand final.

The reason is because they are the headcases of the AFL. They have good footballers but until the players accept that the coach is in charge and not themselves they won't win anything.

If Watson can overcome the players' severe phychological shortcomings then I would think they can certainly make the finals but GF might be a little out of reach.

P.S. As a Collingwood supporter, I wouldn't be placing too much hope on Monkey.

Couldn't agree more Arch. Essendon has the strongest list, by far. 18 wins in the home and away season is testament to that, especially without Hird and Lucas, probably two of their best 4 players !

Hird whos he? The one who gets more action to do with football getting primned and pampered infront of the tv camera?. I dont think hes seen grass for a good two years now, how can he be considered one of the best in the competition?. Surely he has to show his worth again and whether he still *has* it.
The saints will do their same old trick, win a few games at the start of the season, lose 15 in a row and then win the last three to show some *promise* to their supporters and allow the coach back next year. Some things never change <thank god>
