ROUND 2 RESULTS

DEMONS BOUNCE BACK TO SLOW THUNDERFEET

Demons of the West (1353) defeated Junee Thunderfeet (1278)

After going down in Round 1, Demons of the West bounced back with the second highest score in Round 2 to knock off Junee Thunderfeet by 75 points. A captains score of 196 from Emma Swanson along with big efforts from Tilly Lucas-Rodd (121), Aisling McCarthy (84), Dana Hooker (83) and Tyla Hanks (79) really set the tone for the side. Only Danielle Ponter (23) and Belinda Smith (12 - injured) scored less than 30 points for the Demons. For the Thunderfeet, Ash Riddell powered her way to a whopping 240 captain's score, with Alyce Parker (126) and Jasmine Garner (92) also enormous. Unfortunately the Thunderfeet's bottom six really struggled with Tahlia Randall (13), Katherine Smith (24), Bella Eddey (26) and Angelique Stannett (27) all among the main culprits.

SHRIKES TOPPLE SWANS IN TIGHT ONE

SEQ Swans (1229) defeated by St Kilda Shrikes (1274)

In the tightest match of the round, St Kilda Shrikes got on the board with a 45-point win over SEQ Swans, thanks to big efforts from Anne Hatchard (210 captains score) and Ebony Marinoff (101). Along with Tarni White (92), Bianca Jakobsson (85), Tamara Smith (75) and Caitlin Gould (73), the Shrikes had plenty of strong contributors. Unfortunately an injury to Tamara Luke (1) along with the likes of Rachelle Martin (21) and Stevie-Lee Thompson (27) really hurt the cause. Luckily they still got the win though, with Jamie Stanton copping a zero after her first term injury, while Bridie Kennedy (24), Paige Sheppard (28) and Brenna Tarrant (30) were among the biggest culprits. Alison Drennan still put up a 222 captain's score, while Chloe Dalton (98), Claudia Whitfort (77) and Lauren Bella (72) were also among the better Swans in defeat.

PRISON BARS REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Pentridge Prison Bars (1300) defeated The Mark Alvey's (1165)

Pentridge Prison Bars remained undefeated to start the season with a comfortable 135-point win over fellow Round 1 winner, The Mark Alvey's. Lead by the likes of Jaimee Lambert (86), Ruby Schleicher (84), Chloe Molloy (82) and captain Nina Morrison (148 captain's score), the Prison Bars did enough to reach 1300 in a big week. Returning Sarah Rowe (37) disappointed, as did Gemma Houghton (37) and Jacqui Yorston (33) with everyone else scoring 40-plus points. For The Mark Alvey's, Madison Prespakis (194 captain's score) did basically all the heavy lifting, though there was some support from fellow midfielders Kirsty Lamb (82), Ellie Blackburn (78) and Steph Cain (79), while Bonnie Toogood (75) chipped in from the forwardline. Unfortunately everyone else scored below 60, with Eleanor Brown (14) and Stella Reid (18) the biggest offenders.

BIG CATS GO HUGE

The Big Cats (1407) defeated Fremantle Blues (1236)

The Big Cats remained undefeated alongside the Prison Bars with a massive 1407 score to win by almost 200 points against the Fremantle Blues. The Blues put up a pretty competitive score in the loss of 1236, but the Cats' 1407 was a record-high. Captain Emily Bates (182 captain's score), Monique Conti (105), Amy McDonald (92), Chelsea Randall (92) and Aine Tighe (78) were enormous, but the depth was there as well, with only three players, Cathy Svarc - subbed in for Sabreena Duffy, 38 - Orla O'Dwyer (36) and Jess Hosking (37) disappointing with sub-40 scores. Unsurprisingly, Kiara Bowers lead the way for the Blues with a 196 captain's score, but she had far fewer contributors, with Breann Moody (94) and Kaitlyn Ashmore (72) the only two others over 61. They did not have too many poor scores, with Phillipa Seth's 31 the lowest, but did not pump out a heap of huge ones, which was the difference between the sides.

Great work mate, regretting taking so many into the draft now, should have dropped 4 more and started round 1.
Hopefully it pays off for me in the long run..
Happy with the big increase in score for the round though, Biggie 's mob too strong!

ROUND 3 RESULTS:

Demons move into second, hand Swans third straight loss

Demons of the West [1372] defeated SEQ Swans [1047]

Demons of the West moved into second spot on the ladder with a 325-point win over the sole remaining winless side, SEQ Swans. The Demons were well lead by captain Emma Swanson (202 captain's points), as well as good totals from Grace Egan (93), Eliza West (78), Aisling McCarthy (77) and Tilly Lucas-Rodd (76). Sarah Lampard (23) and Mikayla Bowen (28) were the only sub-30 scores.

The least experienced side in the Swans saw captain Alison Drennan drop to just 94 captain's points for the round, with Lauren Bella (83) top-scoring, and youngsters Keely Skepper and Charlie Rowbottom both scoring 66 in a low-scoring game for the visitors.

Thunderfeet storm to big win, hand Prison Bars first loss

Junee Thunderfeet [1304] defeated Pentridge Prison Bars [1120]

It was a big win to the Junee Thunderfeet, getting up by 184 points over the previously undefeated Pentridge Prison Bars. Ash Riddell's 180 points as captain helped, but the contributions from Jasmine Garner (84), Alyce Parker (82), Emma Kearney (79), Emily Pease (79) and Alicia Eva (76) all helped. Only Tahlia Randall (13) was below 30 in an even team performance.

The Prison Bars were affected by the low-scoring Pies-Cats game with captain Nina Morrison managing just 58 captain's points, while Sarah Rowe, Stacey Livingstone and Olivia Barber all scored under 35. The Prison Bars did not have a heap of high scores, but the likes of Mikala Cann (74), Hannah Ewings (73) and Kate Surman (71) were all among the bigger scorers.

The Big Cats put up massive total to remain premiership favourites

St Kilda Shrikes [1239] defeated by The Big Cats [1627]

Putting up an unbeatable score, The Big Cats are deserving ladder leaders and will be difficult to beat this season based on recent form. A whopping 388 points more than the St Kilda Shrikes - who to be fair put up a pretty good score themselves - the victory was catalyst by a massive captain's score of 230 to Emily Bbates, while Ally Anderson (238) and Gab Seymour (100) all hit the ton, and Monique Conti (87) also did ell. The lowest score was Aine Tighe's 42 in a ridiculous "floor" score.

St Kilda put up a competitive score with the likes of captain Anne Hatchard (188 captain's score), Ebony Marinoff (131) and Caitlin Gould (81) all doing well, though the team was let down by the likes of Tegan Cunningham (12) and Caitlin Gould (20).

Fremantle Blues grab first win in nail-biter over The Mark Alvey's

The Mark Alvey's [1142] defeated by Fremantle Blues [1174]

In the lowest scoring game of the round, Fremantle Blues got on the board with their first win, courtesy of a 170 points captain's score from Kiara Bowers. Abbie McKay (83), Hayley Miller (78) and Kaitlyn Ashmore (74) were also handy, though an ACL to Maddy Guerin (11) and fellow Blues Amelia Velardo (25) and Keely Sherar (27), as well as Docker Airlie Runnalls (19) stopped the score from being much larger.

The Mark Alvey's saw Madison Prespakis put up 182 points from a captain's score, while Kirsty Lamb (101) and Ellie Blackburn (82) were consistent as ever. Alana Barba (11), Darcy Moloney (19) and Jess Good (23) were all among the lowest scorers in a week where there were too many passengers.

Fremantle Blues vs. SEQ Swans
The Big Cats vs. Pentridge Prison Bars

MID-SEASON INFO:

Also as I realised with regards to the Mid-Season Trading and Draft, Mid-Season for a seven-round season would be post-Round 4 not Round 5.

So what will happen is as of 8pm next Sunday, September 18, the Mid-Season Trade Period will open until Thursday, September 22 at 7pm (first bounce of Round 5). Effectively it will involve only trading equal numbers (1 for 1, 2 for 2 etc.) and only active players, not trading inactive ones. For some it might be about trying to bring in someone for finals, while for others it could be adding a youngster for the future.

From there, teams will have the chance to delist up to three players (we only have a few days to draft so can't have a long draft).

The Mid-Season Draft will commence Tuesday, September 27. A maximum of three rounds means 27 players. Delisted players will be included as well as free agents.
