The ice bucket challenge was for ALS/MND

It does seem to have had a positive impact for ALS research in the US with an increase in legislator support from state to federal levels, an increase in government funding for research etc

While in Australia, it raised over $3 million for research and subsequently 3 new genes involved in the disease were identified

It's also been acknowledged that the success of the ice bucket challenge acted an inspiration for The Big Freeze at the G - and we know how successful that has become since it's first edition back in 2015

There's definitely times where those sorts of social media challenges seem to do no more than garner likes for those partaking, but other times they actually have a bit of substance behind them & ultimately do have an ongoing positive impact
But, you understand why some people are cynical regarding those causes. Even more so lately given the rise of TikTok/Instagram/Twitter(X).

I liked your post

I remember there was one during COVID where you had to post a picture of yourself as a footy player or coach or donate $50 to a charity of your choice.

It actually baffled me that everyone I saw just posted pictures of themselves and while it wasn't intentional, I thought that **** we as a society are so focused on ego, social media, perception and all of these things combined that we would rather post pictures of ourselves, that everyone has likely seen before, than donate $50 to a charity... it's $50! Anyway, that baffled me. I went for a homelessness charity, this was early into COVID and felt terrible that there were folk out there without a home to find refuge in, in a world of uncertainty. I sincerely say that I didn't see a single person say that they chose to donate but at least 30-50 people chose to re-share old photos of themselves. Anyway, I'm cranky from remembering this.

WA Police have ruled out suicide as investigations continue into the sudden death of Eagles premiership hero Adam Hunter.

The West Coast Eagles great died at the age of 43, with the football club confirming the tragic news on Wednesday morning with a statement on social media.

"Widely accepted" by deadshit online experts who 1) aren't doctors and 2) haven't seen his medical records?

His family deserves better than w***ers like you spreading bullshit like this.
You're in denial if you don't think it's the most likely cause.

One of my unique picks nba player Nate Robinson is getting his long awaited liver transplant. Great news for him, sucks for me.
*kidney

If he's only getting a liver when he needs a kidney you might still have a good shot at it
