There's an odd sort of triangle that connects James Tolkan, Elsa Raven and Billy Zane across three movies - Back to the Future (1985), Titanic (1997) and The Amityville Horror (1979).

The late Elsa Raven had a small but significant role in all three - the 'Save the Clocktower' lady in BTTF, the realtor in The Amityville Horror who shows George and Kathy Lutz the haunted Dutch Colonial house in The Amityville Horror, and real-life Titanic passenger Ida Strauss in Titanic in 1997, who elected to stay with her husband Isidor Strauss and die as the ship sank. As an interesting and eerie side note the actor who played Mr. Strauss in this movie Lew Palter died just several weeks before the Titan submersible disaster in 2023, with the wife of expedition leader Stockton Rush a direct descendent of Isidor and Ida Strauss.

James Tolkan of course played the strict Principal Strickland at Hill Valley High School who was constantly on the lookout for slackers. Billy Zane played Match, who was one of the slackers who attended Hill Valley High in 1955. Mr. Strickland didn't directly call him or his friends Skinhead and 3D slackers in the movie, but they were friends with Biff Tannen who Strickland did call a slacker, so likely they were slackers by association and had previously been reprimanded for this off camera. In 1979 he played the Coroner who is at the Amityville house after the De Feo murders, and in real life there was much tension between eldest son Ronald DeFeo Junior (who carried out the murders) and his strict, traditional Italian Roman Catholic parents most of which was because Ronald Junior was a slacker.

Billy Zane played fictional passenger and main antagonist Caledon Hockley in Titanic in 1997 in probably his most famous role, but he of course did not appear in The Amityville Horror. Nor did we see James Tolkan stalking the decks of the ill-fated Titanic on the watch for slackers among the ship's passengers or crew to reprimand and bring into line.
