DA wasn't too bad. Not the best band I've seen but solid. Gene's crowd banter was pretty funny, kept calling everyone a bunch of campaigners. Those Darkness Descends songs were undoubtedly the highlight.

i really cant get into death angel at all, not sure why
I really like the vocals but sometimes i think the riffs are either kinda generic or lack punch. Don't get me wrong, im a fan, but i don't go back to them as much as other thrash bands. I also believe they may well have peaked on their debut

As much as they're not really a metal band anymore Opeth's new album is pretty solid. Akerfeldt can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned...

...except Heritage. Still can't get into that one...

I wonder who their core audience is nowadays?

I’ve heard two songs - Heart in Hand (brilliant) and Conituum (which sounded like a weird Alice in Chains left over).

I do love the album cover. Superb.

I still listen to them, i think they have maintained authenticity in all of their albums but they have obviously come a fair way from their first few albums. I like them but its pretty obvious they wont release a Blackwater Park/My Arms, Your Hearse album again. I think they are fantastic musicians which has kept me somewhat interested but their past 5 or 6 albums dont hold a candle to their first 5 or so. I've given their new release a quick listen and it isn't horrible but some songs on it just dont interest me at all. There are probably 2-3 songs that i really enjoyed but to me the rest is average at best.

I love roto toms.

Have been listening to Be'lakor all night. I'm really delving deeper into their lyrics and appreciating them on another level.

Fantastic band, overlooked by many but their material is equal to any overseas act in the genre imo. I’m pretty sure at least 2 of them played in my mates band at some point.

Edit: yes Elliot the drummer & George the vocalist.

Yeah I agree completely! I love heaps of melodic death metal but i think Be'lakor are my favourite in the genre, even above Insomnium. Thats really cool that they played in your mates band, may i ask the name of said band?
