Who cares if Adam Goodes doesn't accept the offer. He hasn't been relevant for years. Best leave him as the answer in some random footy quiz night question.
You don't really get what the hall of fame is do you?

He hasn't been relevant because he's chosen to not seek the public eye despite being hounded and accused of being an attention whore. He doesn't want you talking about him.

Not sure how people can't see how much he doesn't want to be spoken about. He didn't even announce his retirement with a press conference, or get any plaudits coming off the ground ffs. Gary Rohan got chaired off for 150 games!!

Guy reaches the very top of the sport and is celebrated for his talent nationwide. He is so good the sport wants to immortalise his achievements. Guy looks down at the pleps who are celebrating his success.... "y'all racist and don't respect me enough."

Moral of the story? I don't even know anymore. Society is broken.
Did you really forget the part where he was booed out of the game? Attacked by all the right wing mouth pieces in the herald sun? Insulted by every commodore driving bogan for not being a deserving Australian of the year for daring to mention that the day that kickstarted the genocide of Aboriginals shouldn’t be a day we celebrate nationally?

You either forgot all of that or you wear your ignorance with pride.

Let's get this s**t straight. Goodesy was cooked, finished, and was not booed into retirement. That much is plain dishonest revisionism. He was dropped early in the season and Longmire commented that he wanted Goodes to continue playing as the sub. Despite playing 21 games, at the b&f Goodes finished behind every player who played more than a handful of matches except Rohan and Cunningham, who finished immediately behind him in 20th and 21st place. He finished behind Jeremy F. Laidler. He was approaching 36 years of age. He was done.

The last two years of his playing career he was booed continuously. It coincided with his eventual retirement, which he did without any fanfare or media such was the raucous rubbish he’d dealt with for months and years prior, for being an outspoken Aboriginal man.

He sat out a week towards the end, but we'll probably never know if it was genuinely due to the booing. He put himself out there, he confronted the fans with his war dance, he challenged Australians' perception of their country. To sit out a game because of booing seems incongruous with his other behaviour.

Plenty would suggest it was the first step toward self-martyrdom.

“We’ll probably never know”?

There’s literally two Documentaries cataloguing the period that he endured, that outline the pile on and how he felt about it all.

Maybe he was injured.

At this point Goodesy transcended the earthly plane into the realms of myth and legend.

That’s the way, double down.

Wait so is that THE day that kickstarted genocide? I’m sure if we changed it to the day Captain Cook first set foot on this land, or any other date relating to its British history, you’d be saying the same rubbish.

Do you know what Jan 26th commemorates?

Without knowing you’re racist you can be called racist. To dispel any flak you might as well just say you are.

Correct. And what happened next?

Umm, the country’s entire history from that point onwards, including the things that don’t include genocide?

Yes or no: would you take issue with it being changed to another associated with British colonisation? You’re only saying this about Jan 26 because you want it to be about genocide.

Colonization IS genocide. That’s the point.

No it’s not. There are plenty of perfectly good dictionaries online.

Going to answer the question any time soon?
What rock have you been living under that you’re arguing British colonization doesn’t equal genocide? You know much about world history?

The answer to your question is that we should not be celebrating any day that commemorates the beginning of Aboriginal genocide.

You said “colonisation is genocide”. As I say, read a dictionary.

You do realise that date commemorates the beginning of many other things right? As in, literally everything. The general practice has been to commemorate the good things that happened after that date, i.e. the inception of the nation with the highest living standards on earth. Nobody “celebrates genocide” on Australia Day.

Laughable response.

Put your head back in the sand.
