I think I've made it fairly clear that I'm pretty fond of Radiohead. In many ways this is their best song and it is a crystallisation of 90s post punk. There are jangly guitars and anger, a dissatisfaction with the corporate monolith the world has become. There is anger and sadness in Thom Yorke's perfect delivery. He spits and snarls, but also embraces a soft and tender sadness.
The dual guitars of Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien attack the listener and help hold them to account for the role they have played in the decaying world the song describes. There is anger and beauty and an attempt to genuinely push their musical boundaries after the fairly muted album
The Bends.
