Before we get into the actual count next week, let's start with the players who didn't play a game this year.

Hamish Brayshaw
Probably our best performed WAFL level mid over the season, averaged 22.6 disposals at this level which may be enough to earn himself another contract and perhaps a debut in 2020.

Xavier O'Neill
Our first draft pick of 2018 took a while to get going this season but showed glimpses of the potential that the club saw in him. Ended the season well which included his season best game in a final against West Perth with 24 disposals.

Luke Foley
Spent more time on the back flank that perhaps we suspected, but at times looked good with the play in front of him and hopefully he uses the offseason to add to his thin frame.

Bailey Williams
Big Bad Bustling Bailey looked the goods at WAFL level and knocked up 308 hitouts at WAFL level across 20 games against seasoned men, but it was his huge leap and sticky hands that caught eyes this year. Strong chance at debuting early next season.

Brayden Ainsworth
Never really looked like getting close to a game this year, however still averaged 21 disposals from 15 games in an injury riddled season.

Kurt Mutimer
In what might be his last year on our list, Mutimer had a solid season off half back. He averaged 18.4 disposals to be one of our most consistent performers.

Matt Allen
Despite the calls from many supporters for a debut this season, Allen was overlooked despite solid numbers especially early in the season. Averaging 20.6 disposals playing almost exclusively in the midfield, he might struggle to retain his spot on the list for next year.

Fraser McInnes
The immortal Horse, who has been on our list for 8 years, captained the WAFL Eagles in a year that saw him all over the park yet still slot 13 majors. Has finally lost his spot on the Eagles list, but has been a fantastic clubman over the journey.

Keegan Brooksby
The glass never got broken for our break in case of emergency ruckman. Keegan played a solid season for the WAFL Eagles, averaging 26 hitouts in the ruck but it remains to be seen if he is awarded another contract.

Harry Edwards
Edwards had an interrupted season with a serious foot stress injury sidelining him for the middle part of the year. However, the rookie listed backman still played 15 games and was impressive enough to be the travelling emergency for the game against St Kilda.

Brodie Riach
Wasn't actually too bad playing in the backline for the WAFL Eagles, however the basketball convert has been delisted.

Patrick Bines
Missed a lot of football due to hernia surgery however looked out of his depth playing league WAFL football. He suffered from not being able to play at reserves level while he learnt a bit more about the game after transitioning from basketball. Has been delisted.

Next we will have a look at the players who played footy this year, but failed to poll a vote:

Brendon Ah Chee

AhChee.jpg

Could be considered stiff to only get one AFL game this year, with strong performances in the WAFL including a 25 disposal 4 goal game against East Fremantle in Round 20. His sole AFL game came in the Round 16 derby where he recorded 15 disposals and kicked a goal.

Josh Smith

Smith.jpg

Two AFL games this year for the former Pie coming in Round 2 v the Giants where he accumulated 13 disposals while registering 1.1 on the scoreboard and Round 12 v Sydney with 10 disposals. Ended the year with a hamstring injury however was solid depth and demonstrated his ability to run all day during the WAFL.

Huge down year for the Premiership ruckman. His best game statistically probably came in the Round 10 game v Adelaide where he amounted 48 hitouts, but he only got votes from us in Round 8 v St Kilda and was terribly out of form for most of the year. Disappointing year from Vardy.

We had high hopes for the Premiership half-forward to make the transition and become a damaging mid this year. Unfortunately a limited preseason and a season ending concussion in Round 9 proved that it was not to be in 2019. Never really got going and his highest disposal count for this year was 15 v St Kilda.

Interrupted 2019 for Hutch with hamstring issues. The Premiership tagger didn't get away with as many scalps this year but his best effort would have been in the Round 14 game v Essendon where he restricted the ever damaging Adam Saad to 12 touches.

After a long, sometimes brilliant and occasionally painful season, it is time to reveal the BFWCPOTY award for 2019 (someone come up with a better name for that geewhiz). I still have our two finals games to tally so I figure while I do that over the coming days you all can post a few predictions of the Top 10 in here if you're feeling a bit adventurous.

Last year Elliot Yeo won it from Jack Redden in a premiership year (back2back effort from him as well). Can he make it a threepeat? What does HT's mail man say? What actually is margarine? You be the judge.

Last years results for reference:

1 Elliot Yeo 48.29
2 Jack Redden 37.86
3 Shannon Hurn 34.84
4 Andrew Gaff 33.08
5 Jack Darling 26.15
6 Brad Sheppard 23.54
7 Luke Shuey 22.84
8 Jamie Cripps 17.23
9 Nic Naitanui 15.19
10 Jeremy McGovern 14.67
11 Willie Rioli 9.94
12 Josh Kennedy 9.74
13 Tom Barrass 9.73
14 Chris Masten 9.44
15 Tom Cole 8.63
16 Dom Sheed 8.62
17 Scott Lycett 7.26
18 Liam Ryan 7.08
19 Mark LeCras 6.80
20 Mark Hutchings 6.36
21 Lewis Jetta 6.33

25 Daniel Venables 0.89
26 Jake Waterman 0.63
27 Brendon Ah Chee 0.42
28 Jackson Nelson 0.20

And previous winners:

His best game statistically came in Round 19 v North Melbourne where he amounted 22 disposals, however he collected most of his votes in the losing Semi Final v Geelong.
