I think Kelly had a bad and a good season if it makes sense

He was overrated by us because we gave him votes in games maybe he didn’t deserve because we wanted to justify his trade but at the same time we may have judged him too harshly because of his elite seasons with Geelong.

Ranking - 4th

Games played - 18

Fantastic season for Gaff which saw him honoured with AA squad selection, although he missed out on the final team. Gaff was our most consistent mid for the season, playing in all 18 games (including several with 100% game time) and polling in 15 of them so while he never received a BOG, he was present the votes almost every game. Gaff finished the season 1st in the competition for Total Uncontested Possessions as well as 6th for Total Disposals and 8th for Effective Disposals per Game, demonstrating his status as one of the premier wingmen of the competition. His best game of the season probably came against St Kilda in Round 17 where he stood up in the absence of other first choice mids and racked up 33 disposals, 3 tackles, 4 marks and a goal. He had similar games where he 25-30 touches but always hovered around the 1-2 vote mark, does our board underrate Gaff?

Ranking - 3rd

An interesting season for Kelly in which no one on this board seemed to rate him and yet he still finished 3rd in our count? Kelly ranked 3rd in the competition for goal assists per game and 10th for Total Inside 50s as well as recorded games such as a 30 disposal, 6 mark, 4 tackle and 1 goal game vs St Kilda in Round 17, a 26 disposal, 4 mark, 4 tackle and 1 goal game vs Richmond in Round 14 and a 29 disposal, 4 mark and 1 goal game vs Collingwood in Round 8. Kelly may not have reached the dizzying heights that he did in his first two seasons for Geelong but he still showed his capability to be a star midfielder on several occasions. He played every game including the condensed fixture which included his best game for the year vs St Kilda in Round 17 where he stood up and in his own words, "hunted the ball". Kelly received BOG honours for that game with 4.96 votes (which in terms of votes was our 2nd best performance of the year by any player on our list) as well as Round 6 vs Adelaide with 4.84 votes.

Looking forward to reading how he finished too high despite all of you throwing significant votes on him :moustache:

Clearly we need to clean out some nuffs on this board if Kelly polls better than Sheppard.

Boy oh boy wowee. Goodness gracious me. They've gone absolutely NAR NAR's on the West Coast Board.

Odd that Obeanie had 25 votes for Jed Anderson when he doesn't even play for our club.

2nd place - #1 Liam Ryan

Total votes - 31.91

Ranking - 2nd

Games played - 18

In 2020, Liam Ryan went from a flashy and inconsistent but still talented forward to one of the best small forwards in the competition. His vision, skills and goal sense catapulted him into the top 2 and if it wasn't for an average first half of the season, he would have been a real shot at winning it. After Round 14, Ryan polled in every game with his lowest tally still being a strong 2.3 votes in Round 17 v St Kilda and this stretch also included 3 BOG performances (Ryan was the only player to record 3 BOG games for us this year) in Round 15 vs Essendon (4.97 votes) which was the highest score for the entire year in a single game with Eastcoasteagle the only voter to not award him with 5 votes (gave 5 to Hurn instead), 16 vs the Bulldogs (4.73 votes) and 18 vs North (4.90 votes). Ryan's outstanding season was rewarded with AA honours and he has the privilege(?) of being the only premiership player to sit inside our top 5. Ryan's best game statistically came against the Bombers where he had 14 disposals, 8 marks and 4 goals and as well as scoring well himself with 26 goals, he was also ranked 9th in the competition for Score Involvements.
