19th place - #2 Jake Waterman

Waterman.jpg

Total votes - 2.89

Ranking - 19th

Games played - 10

A strong year for the developing Waterman where he spent time forward, down back and even ran through the wing at stages. He demonstrated his versatility and after making his way into the team in Round 5 he was a mainstay until a broken hand forced him out after Round 11. Returning in Round 16 v the Bulldogs, Waterman kicked 2 goals and retained his spot in the team for the rest of the season including the Elimination Final

Games played - 15

The former BF whipping boy found some form this year and developed into a great trio featuring himself, Duggan and Cole down back as well as spending time on a wing. Playing with more confidence this year, Nelson only missed 3 games to play a career best 15 in 2020. Trusted with kick in duties in the absence of Jetta, Nelson enjoyed more responsibility and gave us some quality football this year including a 22 disposal, 5 mark, 4 tackle game against North in Round 18 and 23 disposals and 8 marks against Fremantle in Round 7.

Cole enjoyed a resurgence in 2020 after a down 2019. The premiership defender spent time in his familiar role as a backman but also ran through the wing as well as snuck forward for a few goals. Playing every game from Round 4, Cole rotated with Duggan and Nelson through the midfield as we struggled to keep our first choice mids on the park and didn't disgrace himself. Highlights include a 21 disposal game vs Richmond in Round 14 as well as kicking a goal in 3 consecutive weeks against the Bombers, Dogs and Saints.

Ultimately a down year for the premiership midfielder in 2020. Struggled with form at times before breaking his hand in Round 16 v the Bulldogs which ultimately was one of his best games of the season where he finished with 20 disposals 7 clearances and stood up when we needed a mid as a lot of our first choice guys were missing. Returned for the Elimination Final where he amounted 18 disposals in a gutsy effort.

An injury interrupted year, suspension and a poor first hub meant 2020 was the first time that Gov wasn't AA since 2015. He showed at times how good he is which included an 18 disposal, 10 mark game against GWS in Round 13 which also netted him our first BOG performance with 4.83 votes. McGovern was still ranked 2nd in the competition for intercepts per game and 11th for marks per game, despite having a somewhat down year and playing less footy. Despite having a less dominant year on the field when compared to previous seasons, Gov finished in the same spot as last year, 15th, which tells us that his 2020 campaign was fairly similar to his AA 2019 one.

A poor start to the season (not counting his 23 disposal, 9 mark Round 1 v Melbourne before the shutdown), threatened the end the former captain's career if you would believe this board. Looked almost anonymous in those early hub games before building into some really nice form towards the end of the season including 20 disposals and 12 marks vs Essendon in Round 15 and 23 disposals and 4 marks vs North Melbourne in Round 18. Only missed the one game vs the Bulldogs in Round 16 when he was being managed during the condensed fixture, Hurn signed a 1 year deal for 2021 in what may be the last season for our premiership skipper. Ranked number 1 in the competition for Effective Disposals % Per Game in 2020.

Is Dom Is not as good as 2019 where he finished 4th. Sheed had his moments this year where he looked like he was going to take the next step to become a genuine gun for us but ultimately fell short. Ranked 9th in the competition for Stoppage Clearances per game, Dom still took it up to the competition's best and gave us games such as 26 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 goals vs Carlton in Round 11 (BOG), 24 disposals, 10 marks and a goal vs Sydney in Round 5 and 22 disposals, 6 marks and 2 goals in Round 1 vs Melbourne so he still showed that he was capable of some big numbers, but he just needs to provide it on a more consistent basis.

A pretty monumental effort from Yeo to finish just outside the top 10 despite only playing 10 games and missing the entire last half of the season due to a groin injury. Probably our most important midfielder these days, certainly our most powerful, we looked static without Yeo and missed his influence on the contest. Yeo was 2nd in the competition for Clearances per Game and 5th for Tackles per Game which shows how we probably weren't really much of a chance once he went down. Was BOG in Round 5 v the Swans with 4.18 votes where he had 21 disposals, 6 clearances and 5 tackles. Another season highlight was vs Gold Coast in Round 2 where he had 13 tackles and 10 clearances to go with his 21 disposals. Finished 2nd last year in our count and was well on his way to a similar finish before injury.

A big year for Oscar where he pretty much locked down the second ruck/forward position from fairly early in the season while kicking 18 goals. Showed he is a future star and a leader of our club with games such as a 15 disposal game v Adelaide in Round 6 as well as 3 goals vs North in Round 18, Collingwood in Round 8 and Sydney in Round 5. Oscar didn't disgrace himself in the ruck but looks more suited to playing as a permanent forward in the future, especially with JK nearing the end.

So so good for a young KPF.
