We were getting beaten before Crouch got stupidly sent off. The fact we lost 4-0 was the worst bit. If we held it to 2-0, the players might have felt in it.

That's why the red card really killed us.

Would have had a lot less pressure on the defence if we had 11 men on the pitch and to go with that, we may have just pipped a goal.

What kind of team will we send out in the home leg? Surely most, if not all our key players will be rested?

Crouch doesn't get enough hate on here. He's ****ing shit. I ****ing hate him. Hope he never plays for the club again.

I hate Defoe as well but what was he supposed to do?

If Lennon really did have a 'sore throat' he can **** off. Totally killed our balance and we were already down to ten men with Jenas playing.

Thank **** we are out of the relegation scrap because in our current form we would be going down.

Pav has been our most dangerous striker and has scored the most goals too.

Sick of Defoe and I have never been a Crouch fan.

What a crap last month. Hopefully this sparks the team and we go on a massive run fo wins in the EPL. Imagine that.

This is what I meant in the Champions League thread. You concede 4 (albeit with a stupid sending off from a striker) yet its still all the strikers fault. Your defense was hardly inspirational stuff either TBH. In the second half it was literally non existant. Corluka was laughably bad.

Crouch was sent off, that ****ed us up big time. Had to change everything like you do with going down to 10 men. But it was away in the on of the biggest matchs in our history.

VDV played well in the 1st half for what he had to do. He even helped us out down back. We bring on defoe and he does absolutly **** all (i know he didnt have a hell of a lot of opputunitys but when ever he did he would just turn it over and do nothing). He cant even string a pass together. Atleast keane knows how to pass!

Our back 4 played alright considering it was 90mins of attacks. The last goal was gomes fault. Our midfield were really poor. Modric was getting hacked down everytime he went near the ball, and went missing in the 2nd half. Jenas is just shit. Sandro tried hard. Bale was average at best. As i stated earlier VDV played well in that 1st half and shouldnt of been subbed off.

You must be either mentally ******ed or not watch any Spurs matches. It's ****ing clear that our strikers are our weak link. When they don't score they are getting sent off.

Real Madrid would have put 4 past any EPL team playing with ten men at the Bernabeu. They are on a different level to anything we've faced in England.

Dawson was heroic but sooner or later the floodgates had to open.

Your strikers are MUCH MUCH worse than your defenders in every aspect. What I mean is that when versing a team like Real Madrid you are not going to beat them by outscoring or outattacking them, your going to beat them by defensive brilliance.

The makeup and your ability to defend was always going to decide this tie. In the end it was well pure stupidity that did by Peter Crouch (not in a attacking but just a football sense). Real Madrid are an attacking beast and going into this game your defensive structure was always gonna be key to your success and failure.

Dawson was good but BAE and Corluka were both very poor as was Gomes for the last goal. Not the type of form/errors you can show with ten men against a attacking beast like Real.

To be honest i think Arry made a massive mistake when He replaced Lennon with Jenas. A central pairing of Sandro and THudd would of been much more effective. Even if THudd couldnt run out the game.

After six years, I still haven't figured out what Jenas contributes. I must have missed the part where he became a better footballer than Jamie O'Hara

Why don't we play VDV as the lone striker? Sure, it's not his natural position but in the few times we've played him there (First half vs Madrid, second game against Aston Villa come to mind), he's looked more dangerous than any other striker we've had. He helps out in the midfield a lot and he can actually hold the ball up pretty well. Add to that, he's been our best finisher infront of goal by far.

Even though there's no chance it will happen, I'd like to see us line up like this:

---Corluka---Gallas---Dawson---BAE-------
------------------------------------------
----------------Sandro--------------------
-----------Modric---Huddlestone-----------
-------------------------------------------
---Lennon------------------------Bale-----
--------------Van der Vaart----------------

Getting a sense of deja vu here.

Nice to see us kicking goals for fun but we've been very sloppy in defence. First goal I thought we could have done better to defend but in the end, Huddlestone was a bit too slow. Second goal was great but it came because Bale gave the ball away like a ****ing wanker. Shit stuff.

Could just end up like the Wolves game at 3-3 unless we learn how to concentrate properly. We already badly miss Gallas. Does a lot of the sweeping work you don't really expect Kaboul or Daws to do.

Oh, and where's Sandro? Sorry, Huddlestone doesn't warrent a spot ahead of him at the moment. Sure, Hudd's been good today but I reckon we would have kept a clean sheet had Sandro played.

Well it ends 3-2 to us but it's still an unacceptable performance and stupid managing as usual from Harry.

We were on the back foot for almost the whole second half. The referees was shit but we should really doing better than what we served up. Bale was putrid in the last 15 minutes and almost cost us the game and how was Kenwyne Jones destroying us so badly? I can understand him dominating in the air but even at ground level he was tearing us to shreds. We badly need one of Gallas or King back, purely for the brains and leadership in defence.

Pav and Crouch were good in the first half but did nothing after that. I still think we should play 4-4-1-1 with one of Crouch or Pav upfront but of course, we'll be playing this for a while to come because we scored 3 goals. I also expect Harry to try and get Defoe into the lineup again...

Speaking of Harry, still doesn't seem to have a clue when to make a sub. Stoke make a triple change, ready to go for the draw and how does Harry respond? He doesn't. We have tired midfielders out there who played midweek against Real and a Huddlestone coming off a long term injury. We really needed a Sandro or a Jenas in there just to take a bit of heat of guys like Modders and VDV but of course, we have Harry in charge... just typical.

Either way, a win's a win. We need Mancity losing now to keep our top 4 hopes alive. Problem is, with away games against Chelsea, Pool and City coming up, I'd say we only have a slim chance.

You must be a legend at Football Manager. Considered taking up managing in real life?

Anyway check out VDV's party trick

Well done Harry, yet again, lacking a gun striker has cost us.

0-0 at half time and we have no chance of winning now, despite creating chances.

Why are we fielding a full-strength squad? Does Harry still think we can win the match? Please.

Sad end to an otherwise brilliant CL. No distractions now. 3 points off, a game in hand and a Man City with no Tevez, 4th is ours for the taking. Time to cut out this constant negativity here like we have failed already.

What a fantasic run in the CL. We were able to ride a fantastic wave of comebacks, goals (both for and against...), some great moments and the club/players/supporters really seemed to enjoy it.

Lets hope that we can now firmly concentrate on the league. At the start of the season I said I'd rather finish fourth again and only just qualify out of the group stages rather than make it further in the comp but miss out on fourth place.

I want Tottenham to be in it for the long haul.

Must say I am one of Gomes biggest fans and stood up for him early in his Spurs career, but he's just made too many mistakes this campaign. Would love to trim the squad a bit too (O'hara, Hutton, GDS (although I still want him to get a chance), Bentley etc), get either an improvement or good cover on the right for Lennon as well as LB for BAE and ship off two of Keane, Defoe, Crouch and buy a stand out striker.

Gomes is still an excellent shot stopper, but give the man any thinking time and it all seems to go pear shaped. Want Taiwo for LB but he will probably end up elsewhere, but honestly I think BAE has improved considerably in recent times and is making far fewer errors.
