Is anyone else against getting Klose? The guy has a terrible club record. If we got him on a free and for low wages maybe, but I can't see them being low.

And I'm starting to warm the idea of Gomes leaving. As a brilliant as a shot stopper he can be, he's such a liability at times. I think some of his balls ups are serious morale killers. But at the end of the day GB is right, lets sort out our striker mess before we worry about keepers.

Leandro Damiao from Sandro's old club could be a brilliant pick up.

edit this one seems newer (shit music and editing though)

I'd take Klose in a heartbeat. He's the type of player we need, a striker who can both score and create goals.

I would also like Chamakh from Arsenal, although I'm not sure we'd be able to get him. Like Crouch, holds the ball up very well but unlike Crouch, he knows how to kick goals.

Falcao would be a great pick, but with the goons in the picture its all about playing Champions League footy for him and Arsenal and Porto both have that.

Always the odd chance Arsene could come to his senses and realize signing a 26m striker would be totally ridiculous and inappropriate under the circumstances. They already have a gun first choice striker in RVP so right now, they should be trying to fix their disgusting defense.

Providing Arsenal is out of the picture, we just have to offer the right amount of cash. Normally, I wouldn't get my hopes up but hey, the agent claimed we were willing to pay the 26m, so you never know.

But he's scoring shit all for his club. Off putting.
You mean like our current crop?

We could do a lot worse than Klose and get someone like Carlton Cole or Cameron Jerome, which would be same old shit all over again.

At least when Klose isn't scoring, he's creating. He also provides a great aerial threat.

What are peoples thoughts on Giovani Dos Santos?

Was reading an article with him saying he's regained his best form in La Liga, kicking 5 goals and helping Racing out of relegation.

Harry seems keen on selling him along with a bunch of other players. I'd be pretty devastated if we let Gio go cheap and he went on to be the next Super Ronnie.

I'd rather keep him and give him a shot in the first team next season now that he's matured as a player. For me, Lennon's been disappointing this season, with only 3 goals and 2 assists over 34 games, which isn't really acceptable for a player who plays so high up the pitch. Giovani also offers the versatility to play on either side, in the hole and as a striker.

Looks like there's still something to get excited about here. Chelsea seem eager to appoint Redknapp as their manager.

Some won't like it but it can only be a good thing. We need to bring someone in who doesn't view 5th as a success.

Falcao - all too late. I & others were 12 months ago calling his name. Just another example of where we will attempt to sign someone that we were never going to get, takes me back to Rivaldo is coming days, let alone last January.

Cole (is he the most overrated striker ever in the PL?), Jerome, etc, GB they are no better than what we have & probably worse. Yes we need change but it's pointless if they are not a potential improvement. Previous windows the recycled likes of Keane, Crouch, Defoe seem to be our favour of selection, & this is one that I hope we divert from. Look outside the obvious & vanilla that we favoured in the past.

Klose, I agree would be worth a punt. People forget about his record at Werder, & injuries plus strong competition did hamper his record at Bayern. The old domestic argument doesn't cut it with me.

Dos Santos - would need a dramatic improvement in attitude. I have 2 doubts aside from this being: where does he fit in? & doubts over his ability to make it in the PL. Sell for me just too many doubts.

We don't have the pull to entice a Falcao, Llorente, Rossi, Benzema, etc, so our scouts might need to actually earn some dollars. Every now & then we do have ability too eg. Sandro, so when I read us linked with the likes of Damiao, Gameiro, Gervinho I do have some hope that others may not.

I see the real problem being VDV. Where does he belong? Great player but I believe he destroys the structure that created our dramatic improvement eg. width. The other coin is where would we have been without his goals? Not sure what we do here.

I hope we retain Harry despite his misgivings & think we will. I fear the ability to retain our better players for another season if he was to go.

There you guys pick apart & shoot me down at will. ;)

It's an interesting one, I think much the same that while he has generally played very well as an individual (especially in first half of season), he doesn't really add a lot to the team. His attitude seemed to slip toward the end of the season, and he never seemed capable of building up a level of fitness required to play 90 minutes regularly in the premier league.

Good player, and you will miss his goals, but overall I reckon you might be better off without him. Off to the Arsenal thread to make the same point about Van Persie.

Lol, the Carlton Cole and Cameron Jerome part were in reference to how much worse we could do than someone like Klose. No way in **** would I want them at the club. I wouldn't have minded someone like Rodallega or Kalinic though.

As for Dos Santos, I'd be more than happy to risk him if he can deliver us what he's delivered for Racing this season. I'd have him in the team over Lennon, who as I said, has been pretty disappointing this year with only 3 goals and 2 assists over the season. Adding to that, Dos Santos is actually quite versatile. He can play on either side and even as a backup striker for us if needed.

Also disagree in regards to VDV not fitting in the side. I think he slots in perfectly, we just need someone to complement him. Peter Crouch does this well but he's a rubbish goalscorer and the other two guys don't link with him very well.

I also think VDV gets a lot of totally unfair criticism based on his form in the latter half of the season. Harry wouldn't stop trying to fit Defoe and Pav into the team and as a result, VDV gets played out of position. He wasn't scoring as many goals but his passing was still top notch and he was helping out defensively. We need to play him in the hole next year, behind a gun striker who can hold the ball up. Klose would be good for this.

Do you think your boys will reneg on the selling to 'rival' clubs chasing CL positions?
Given that you are there now & given the class of the strikers on your books.

I could really see Harry chasing Bellamy & Adebayor (not that I necessarily want them), but to bring in/chase these types is just such a Harry thing to do.

Would anyone here want to see Berba back?

He must be pretty pissed to be left out of the manure squad, especially after all the goals he's kicked for them this year.

Don't think he's the type of striker we need but he's still a far better alternative to the shit strikers we play now.

I'm not sure there ever was a formal position on that (Adebayor said he was close to a move to Spurs last January before Madrid came in). I don't think we'd have a problem selling anyone to you, although you're a club that is notoriously difficult to deal with, and I'm sure if other options were available we wouldn't be too slow to do a deal with other clubs.

I can see a Berbatov + Cash for Modric deal happening.

Looks like Wilson Palacios is on his way to Napoli:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...cios-waiting-to-hear-over-napoli-move?cc=3436

Deal not done yet, but it's close.

RVN also joined Malaga. Our striker options are already becoming thin.

[edit] Spurs and Napoli disagree on the valuation of Palacios:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...ham-disagree-over-wilson-palacios-fee?cc=3436

Wouldn't mind keeping him as he's a great depth player, but he's probably going to want first team football and it should only be a matter of time before he starts demanding a move.

Palacios will get his move. Just a question of how much of a loss we make. Levy is just being stubborn as usual.

Friedel must be some kind of sick joke. But our manager is wheeler dealer, not a ****ing football manager.

I can see him picking the carcass of the relegated clubs. Scott Parker, Roger Johnson and Charlie Adam will be at Spurs next season IMO. Harry loves signing players he doesn't need.
